    Scheduled for this year’s luncheon are silent and live auctions, autograph and photo opportunities, and appearances by Otto the Orange, the Sour Sitrus Society, and Syracuse University Cheerleaders. Bid for the opportunity to have a player or coach join your table! The event takes place at the Syracuse Oncenter. Pre-event tailgating takes place in The Oncenter parking garage at 9:00 a.m. Doors open at 10 and the luncheon begins at 10:30 a.m. Tickets are $70 per person and reservations must be made by Oct. 15th.     Free for members, included with regular admission
    Join the Cayuga Nature Center for our series of weekly citizen science walks to observe and collect data on seasonal changes in trees. Rain or shine, we will monitor when buds break, leaves emerge, flowers bloom, fruits ripen, and when leaves change color and fall.
    The data we will collect will be sent to the USA National Phenology Network, which makes it available to researchers who are trying to understand the biological mechanisms behind seasonal changes and how they are influenced by a changing climate.

    Museum in the Dark

    The Museum of the Earth is opening its doors on Thursday evening, October 26, from 6 to 8 pm, to look at space in a spooky way with Cornell’s Astronomy Club. Children of all ages are invited to come dressed in costume and learn more about our universe. Astronomy students will have stations throughout the Museum dedicated to space and space exploration. Explore the Museum of the Earth’s new Mapping the Planets exhibit, and get candy treats as you visit the Astronomy Club’s activities including the Dry Ice Comet, Magic Planet, Spandex Universe, Lego Exoplanets, Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream, and more!

Bargains abound in this long running community recycling project. $1.00/ bag clearance on Saturday! Come and bring your friends for truckloads of treasures!

    Donations may be dropped off Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m. through Tuesday, October 24 at 6 p.m. Please do not drop off televisions, appliances, sleeper sofas, mattresses, pillows, magazines, infant/toddlers car seats, exercise equipment or encyclopedias.

    During Wizarding Weekend, starting October 27th at 7 pm and continuing until 5pm on Sunday, a “Divination Celebration” will be taking place at the CommonSpot – on the commons above Petrune.     The event includes several unique psychic or unusual adventures that can be ‘won’ through donations taken in advance of the weekend, as well as the opportunity to ‘walk-in’ for a psychic reading during the event.   The highest donations will win.   The current prizes include psychic readings, a course on positive energy, jewelry, gift certificates to local stores, and more prizes are added regularly.

    Donors can ‘bid’ for items through making donations for specific prizes. Go to HavingFunDoingGood.org, click on the link for a Prize and make a donation. Physical items will remain up for grabs until SUNDAY OCTOBER 29th at 5pm. Events will only be available until 11:59pm the night before the event takes place.  ONLY the top bidders for each item will win it, except for group events.  The readings with Phil Jordan and the class with Dawn Krug are group events, so the top 15 will win those.
