Description:

In this workshop, participants will build on their basic skills, learn various woodworking techniques and tools to create a customized end table from a basic design. Students will learn how to create a plan and drawing, use traditional and digital fabrication tools and methodologies to select, cut and prepare materials, wood joinery and finishing techniques. Throughout the course participants will learn how to properly use various woodshop equipment such as table saws, router, planer, jointer and sanders. Students will finish their projects using either brush or spray techniques.

Participants will receive complementary Makerspace Membership to NewMakeIt during the term of the class, allowing additional time to work on projects and bolster their knowledge.

This class will be a combination of workshop and classroom. Appropriate safety equipment is required. Participants should budget for approximately $70 in material fees to complete their projects.

This class is classified as “Intermediate”. It’s designed for those with some wood building experience that would like to increase and perfect their skills. Students should have a basic understanding of tools and wood construction. For those that have never completed a wood project, we would recommend “Introduction to woodworking”, our 101 course.
