Another key factor to consider before you start writing is your audience. For example, if you are trying to convince the enemies of teachers that homework is bad, you will use a different argument argument than if your audience consists of high school students or parents. When you have a topic and have studied the audience, you need to prepare for a few steps before you start writing a persuasive essay: Brainstorm. Use whatever brainstorming method works best for you. Write down your thoughts on the topic. Make sure you know where you stand. You can even try asking yourself some questions. Ideally, you will try to ask yourself questions that you could use to refute your claim, or you could persuade the reader to take an opposing viewpoint.This may seem obvious, but you really need to think about how to convince your audience. 
Find examples. Many writers and speakers offer persuasive arguments. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I Have a Dream' speech is cited as one of the most persuasive arguments in American rhetoric. Eleanor Roosevelt's 'The Struggle for Human Rights' is another example of a skillful writer trying to convince an audience. But be careful: Although you can imitate a certain style of writing, be careful not to get too carried away with the imitation. Make sure that the words you choose are your own words, not words that sound like they are taken from a thesaurus (or worse, that they are completely alien words). Organize. In any document you write, make sure that your thoughts are well stated, including in the essay, and that your supporting ideas are clear, concise, and accurate. If you know you will have more opportunities to present your essay, learn from the audience or reader who will pay attention and keep trying to improve your work.
