localendar DNS changes and access issues (for some)
On Friday, June 30, localendar made a change to our public IP address to point to our new home in the cloud.

DNS changes typically take from 2-24hrs to propagate across the internet. If someone hits the old localendar ip, they would just get our old infrastructure, but it now points to the cloud database, so no edits or new entries would be lost.

2 days later, and we are still hearing from some members (mostly outside the US) who are having issues connecting to localendar.com. This is very odd.

Site like https://dnschecker.org/#A/localendar.com show almost 100% propagation of the new localendar.com IP, but sites like https://www.uptrends.com/tools/uptime show many foreign countries still having trouble.

We've talked with our DNS manager (register.com) and everything seems OK from their side, and they added that some servers may take up to 4 days to refresh (!). The doesn't explain why people can't at least hit the original server though.

We're watching this problem closely and will provide more information as the situation develops.

Re: localendar DNS changes and access issues (for some)
As of today, July 3rd at 1845, I still can't get connected to localendar.com or get the calendar to appear on my web site. I'm in New Brunswick, Canada. If I use my VPN and connect through Chicago, everything works as it should. It seems BellAliant hasn't updated it's DNS list yet. Hopefully soon.

Happy July 4th!! Calendar is still not loading. Can't get to your site to add events, or get the calendar to come up on my site here in Canada. Your link to website availability shows Toronto and Vancouver TCP connection failed. I believe most of Canada is affected. It shouldn't take this long for the change to go through. I'd be pushing my hosting company to resolve this asap. We're paying for a service and it's not being delivered. It's not your fault, but it's very frustrating for those of us who depend on it.

Re: localendar DNS changes and access issues (for some)
I'm in Toronto, Canada. The site and our calendar are still unavailable.

The only way we could get into the forum was by using a VPN. Otherwise, not even the home page comes up.

I've never encountered a situation where DNS propagation takes even one day, let alone four. That doesn't sound right at all.

Anyway... lots of us are out here and blocked from our calendars. Please get this fixed!

Thank you.

Re: localendar DNS changes and access issues (for some)
As of 9am EST Jul 5, we are seeing green from all global access points tested through https://www.uptrends.com/tools/uptime

We worked around the clock for 4 days to get an external firm to properly address their DNS propagation issues, but with the July 4 holiday weekend here in the US support was very spotty.

In the future, we will also post updates to our twitter account (@localendar_news) in the event of a similar situation (though this is the first time in 17 years we've had a problem at this scale)

You should be able to get to the site fine now. If not, you may need to flush your DNS cache (https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html) Please let us know if you still have problems with access.
