Google has recently introduced a new search feature that specifically picks up local events - some event sites have their events "automatically" included. Are there plans for localendar events to be included in the new google search feature? http://searchengineland.com/google-rolls-new-event-search-feature-app-mobile-web-274857 https://techcrunch.com/2017/05/10/google-search-will-now-help-you-find-nearby-events/ |

Maybe we should let them know about our patent for local event search ;) https://www.google.com/patents/US20020161756 We'll investigate supporting their new format for publishing events. As an aside, you can search across all of the events localendar database from the Search button on our left menu (trivia: That's where the "local" in "localendar" comes from!) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

I recently discovered this calendar and so far have been impressed by the practicality of it, and I'm especially curious about the global/local search feature. If Google search is still not tapping into Localendar's events... Where does anyone find this global/local calendar posted, to see that there are events available? How does anyone see public events that all of us Localendar members use? Or is it only meaningful to us members? ================= Tired of living in fear? You can search the global localendar database for events at this page: https://localendar.com/elsie?JSP=Search If you would like to create a link to the search you create (for example, to publish local events culled from all nearby calendars on your website) then you can also generate that from the page as well. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Thank you for your response. I should clarify my question a bit: When someone does an online search, let's say from Google or Bing or DuckDuckGo whatever, for events to go to this weekend, will they be shown any of these Public events on Localendar? In other words, how does Localendar show our public events to people out there, if they don't have the search link you provided? ================= Tired of living in fear? Public events on localendar are crawlable by those sites' search bots, but we are not in control of what they index. In our experience, they crawl a very limited list of sites which is partly why localendar was created more than 20 years ago. The "big search sites" tend to ignore small groups, churches, organizations, etc. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
