<p>Huston Eugene Bumpus of Athens, age 90, died March 30, 2026, at his home. He was born April 1, 1935, to Freddie and Eula Bumpus in Limestone County. Mr. Bumpus was a chairman of the Deacons at Calvary Baptist Church and a retired carpenter.</p>  <p>He is survived by daughters, Janice Sutton and Lisa Williams (Franklin), grandchildren, Lerrin Thompson (Brad) and Mattison Haraway (Dustin), great-grandchildren, Jimma Huston Thompson and James Nash Thompson, brothers, Larry Bumpus and Milton Bumpus, Sister, Millisa McGraw, as well as several nieces and nephews.</p>  <p>Mr. Bumpus was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Faye Bumpus, daughter, Pamela Jean Bumpus, and son-in-law, James Anthony Sutton.</p>  <p>Visitation will be Wednesday, April 1st from 12:00 noon until service time at Spry Funeral Home. Services start at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Spry Chapel with Randy Johnson officiating. Interment to follow at Limestone Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Franklin Williams, Dustin Haraway, Brad Thompson, Ricky Grubbs, John Allen, and Benny Cottles. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Bumpus and Milton Bumpus.</p>  <p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.</p>]]></description>

She was born March 13, 1936 in Limestone County to Lewis and Odell Whitworth.</p>  <p>Mrs. Patrick was preceded in death by two sons, Tony Kelley and Eddie Martin Kelley and one grandson. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.</p>  <p>Visitation will take place Saturday, April 4th at Spry Funeral Home from 9:30 to service time. Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 4th at Spry Funeral Home in the Chapel. Interment to follow at Miller Cemetery in Rogersville.</p>]]></description>

<p>Lura Leigh Tribble, age 91 of Athens, died March 21, 2026, at Windsor House in Huntsville, Alabama.</p>  <p>She was born May 15, 1934, in Limestone County to Donley and Ruthie McMahan. Mrs. Tribble was a homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah&rsquo;s Witnesses.</p>  <p>She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Chuck) Hund, sons, Daniel (Jeana) Tribble and Donald Tribble, twenty-five grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.</p>  <p>Mrs. Tribble was preceded in death by her husband, Rubin Tribble and her son, David Tribble.</p>  <p>Visitation will be Saturday, April 4th from 12:30 until service time at Spry Funeral Home of Athens. Services will begin at 2pm Saturday the 4th in the Spry Chapel officiated by Wayne Hurt. Interment to follow at Elk River Mills Memorial Gardens in Athens, Alabama.</p>]]></description>

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Dwight) Schrimsher. Sons, Carl (Brenda) Hobbs, Greg (Diane) Hobbs and David (Cindy) Hobbs. Bonus daughter, Marcy Felder, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren two great great grandchildren. Several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Sister, Barbara Knight. several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Parents, Allen &amp; Violet Hagood. Husband, Charlie Hobbs. Grandson, Greg Hobbs and Great Great Grandson, Case Hobbs. Services will be 11 am Monday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home with Terry Lamar officiating, burial will be at Dement Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9 am until service time. Pallbearers will be Zach Schrimsher, Josh Bushaw, Bradley Dollar, Brodie Dollar, Daniel Mayfield and Marty Ledlow. Hope Clemons and Noah Tennison. Great Grandchildren, Harper White and Brentlee Rouse. Sisters, Mary McLemore and Shirley Blankenship. Brother, Joe Tennison. Several nieces and nephews. <p><strong>Patricia Ann Rayburn</strong>, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home in the early hours of April 1st, 2026. She was 82 years old.</p>  <p>Patricia Ann, or &ldquo;Pat,&rdquo; was born to Scottie Wallace and Walter Gilbreath on January 8, 1944, in Limestone County, Alabama. In the early years of her life, while her mother Scottie worked, Pat was raised on the family farm of her grandparents, Floyd and Margaret Wallace, with her great-grandfather, Thomas Wallace, her maternal aunt, Martha.</p>  <p>Pat is survived by her two sons (Mike Rayburn and Steve Rayburn) and daughters-in-law (Melissa and Stephanie); eight grandchildren (Miles, Coleman, Clay, Marybeth, Kenneth, Miranda, and Makenzie); nine great-grandchildren (Jair, Elijah, Adelyn, Isaiah, Asher, Noah, Hannah, Sage, and Bennett); her brother (Ralph Meyer) and sister-in-law (Pamela Meyer); her niece (Leslie) and nephew (Jon); as well as many friends and relatives.</p>  <p>Pat was preceded in death by her great-grandfather (Thomas Wallace), grandmother (Margaret Wallace), grandfather (Floyd Wallace), mother (Scottie Wallace Meyer), father (Ralph John Meyer), natural father (Walter Gilbreath) and aunts (Ella Meyer Ruegg, Martha Wallace, Esther Meyer Suess, Vilma Lee Meyer) and uncles (T.C. Wallace, Oscar Suess, Woodrow Meyer).</p>  <p>As per her wishes, Patricia will be buried near the final resting place of her maternal grandparents, Margaret and Floyd Wallace. Mr. Stanford was a member of the church of Christ and retired from 3M in Decatur.&nbsp;</p>  <p>Mr. Stanford is survived by his three sons, Steve (Sally) Stanford of Athens, Joey (Ashley) Russell of Lester, and Andrew MacKenzie of Athens, his daughter, Mary Ward of Lester, three brothers, Dennis Stanford of Minor Hill, Alvin Stanford of Lester, and Davey Stanford of Athens, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.</p>  <p>He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Stanford, and brother, Danny Stanford.</p>  <p>There will be a visitation Thursday, April 9th from 1:00 p.m. to service time at Hester's Chapel church of Christ in Lester, Alabama. Services will be 2:00 p.m. at the church officiated by Chuck Hood with interment following at Hester's Cemetery.</p>]]></description>

Mr. Williamson was a member of Friendship at Riddles Methodist Church and a member of the Tractor Pullers Association.</p>  <p>He is survived by his wife, Peggy Williamson of Athens, sons, Chris Williamson and Brian (Emily) Williamson, both of Athens, grandchildren, Jade Williamson, Jolie Williamson, and Dalton Williamson, brother, Pat Williamson of Athens as well as several nieces and nephews.</p>  <p>Graveside services will be 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11th at Ripley Cemetery officiated by Brandon Rodgers.</p>  <p>Memorial donations may be made to Friendship at Riddles Methodist Church.</p>]]></description>

She was born November 14, 1945, to James and Mary Burchell in Limestone County, Alabama. She was a member of the Tanner church of Christ and retired from Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA. She was a faithful servant of God, a loving mother and grandmother and friend. The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers, Debbie Petty and Brenda Zeanah.</p>  <p>She is survived by her husband, Danny Phillips, daughters, Christi (Tim) Golden, and Angie (Ken) Chambers, son, Chad (Amy) Carter, stepdaughters, Kim (Kelly) Howard and Kristy Crowe, grandchildren, Brittany Howard, Brad Chambers, Jack Chambers, Sean Carter, Ryan Carter, Thomas Carter, and Mary Gregory, sisters, Wanda Carter, Barbara Hysaw, Kay Harbin, brothers, Larry Burchell, Bill Burchell, Royce Burchell, and several nieces and nephews.</p>  <p>Mrs. Carter Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Don Carter, granddaughters, Jaime Carter and Samantha Carter, and sister, Brenda Clinard.</p>  <p>The family will hold a visitation Saturday, April 11th at Spry Funeral Home of Athens from 12:00 noon until service time.</p>  <p>Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11th in the Spry Chapel officiated by Dan Chambers and Steve Carter with interment following at Limestone Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his sons, Jamey Carl Carter, James Rex Carter, and Jamey Lee Carter, daughters, Carla Miranda Harris and Jessica Kayla Carter, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.</p>  <p>Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Carter and daughter, Rita D. Davis.</p>  <p>Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 12th with Doug Coldwell officiating and interment following at Copeland Cemetery. She was a member of the Tanner Church of Christ, formerly employed by Limestone County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office, Limestone County Probate Judge and Council on Aging and the Limestone County Commission.</p>  <p>Mrs. Bates is survived by her sons, Lucas Bates and Daniel (Amy) Bates, grandchildren, Curt (Reagan) Bates, Bryleigh Bates, and soon to be great-granddaughter, brother, Trevor (Wendy) Owens, nephew, Trey (Serena) Owens, niece, Scarlett (Kristopher) Kotrous, and great niece, Wesley Anne Owens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Brenda Owens and an infant sister.</p>  <p>There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Monday, April 13th at Spry Funeral Home. Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 13th in the Spry Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Mike Blakely and Mark Little. Mr. Bates was a member of Tanner Church of Christ, a veteran of the Alabama National Guard, retired from TVA and retired from Limestone County Schools as a bus driver. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle and horses.</p>  <p>Mr. Bates is survived by his sons, Daniel (Amy) Bates and Lucas Bates, grandchildren, Curt (Reagan) Bates, Bryleigh Bates, and soon to be great-granddaughter, brothers, Randy (Charlotte) Bates, Joseph Bates, and Anthony (Sharon) Bates.</p>  <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Martha Bates.</p>  <p>There will be a visitation 10:00 a.m. to service time on Monday, April 13th at Spry Funeral Home. Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 13th in the Spry Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Mike Blakely and Mark Little. <p><img src='//localendar.com/upload/Spry/mcgill.gif' alt='mcgill.gif' /></p>  <p>Daniel 'Corky' McGill of Lester AL, passed away Wednesday April 8, 2026 at&nbsp;<span>Aspire Physical Recovery in Hoover, AL.&nbsp; He was born in Minor Hill, Tennessee&nbsp;</span><span>On December 9, 1932 and was 93 years old.</span></p>  <p>Corky was a loving husband , father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to fish and spent most days of his retirement fishing on the Elk River. He also loved baseball and spent many years coaching baseball.He was a member of Craig Chapel Church of Christ where he lead singing until age 92. Corky proudly served in the U.S. AirForce during the Korean conflict.</p>  <p>In the private sector he was in management at National Can and Ball Metals&nbsp;<span>Where he retired at age 62.</span></p>  <p>Corky was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years Joyce Dean Gray McGill, his parents David Homer and Flora Lee Thorne McGill, brothers Maurice , Charles David,Waddell,Milford and Billy Ray McGill. Sisters Lois McGill and Myra Siniard and a great granddaughter Rorie Jo McGill.</p>  <p>He is survived by a son Phil McGill (Donna), daughter Sue McGill Ray,&nbsp; 6 grandchildren: Melanie Keefer, Kris Shelton, Kerry McGill, Amy Shoebridge, J.D.Roberts, Phillip McGill. Sister, Sandra Summey, Brothers, Don McGill and Terry McGill and 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great-great grandchild.&nbsp;</p>  <p>A visitation will be Tuesday April 14, 2026 from 10:00- 12:00 with services following at 12:00 at Craig Chapel Church of Christ in Lester, AL<span><br /></span></p>]]></description>

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens and a retired school teacher.</p>  <p>Mrs. Lewter is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Brad) Phillips, son, Kent (Shea) Lewter, grandchildren, Cole Lewter and Brett (Kenzie) Lewter as well as several nieces and nephews.</p>  <p>She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Lewter, parents, Loyd and Odessa Smith, and her sister, Nadine Canaday.</p>  <p>Visitation will be Monday, April 20th from 12:30 to service time at Spry Funeral Home of Athens. Services will begin at 2:00 pm Monday, April 20th in the Spry Chapel officiated by Joel Carwile. Pallbearers will be Kent Lewter, Brett Lewter, Brad Phillips, John South, Deon Hargrove, and Tim McNeill. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cole Lewter and Bob Floyd. He was born June 23, 1945, in Lester, Alabama. Mr. Howard was a retired teacher of mathematics and author of the math curriculum of Lake County Board of Education. He was proud of his former student, Tammy Jerkin, who became Florida's teacher of the year. He loved Alabama Athletics and the Atlanta Braves.</p>  <p>Mr. Howard is survived by his daughter, Leigh Ann Howard, former wife, Deborah Kay Tucker Howard, sister-in-law, Snow Howard as well as several nieces and nephews.</p>  <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Howard, brothers, John R. Howard, Hershel A. Howard, and James N. Howard.</p>  <p>There will be a visitation Saturday, April 25th at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove church of Christ followed by services at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Paul Sain. Pallbearers will be Mr. Howard's great-nephews, Paul Taylor, John Howard, Jr., Lee Isom, Zane Griffin, Heath Rose, and Dennis McMillian.
