ATL - Compassionate Atlanta Meetups

(Thu, 28 May 2026 6:30 pm - 8 pm GMT)
In our monthly Meetup for "Building compassion for ourselves and our community", Compassionate Atlanta will host a community conversation focused on “The Case for Compassion.” This is an opportunity for participants to share their views and questions about compassion and learn from one another. Some of the questions we will be prepared to explore are: What is compassion? What does it look like? Can there be exceptions to whom we are compassionate? Why do some people struggle more than others and need our most compassionate response? Does our public policy incorporate compassion? If not, why not? What are the best ways as individuals or as a group to influence society to become more compassionate?

Please join us for a lively discussion. We look forward to "Meeting up" again.

Compassionate Atlanta Meetups take place on the 4th Thursday of the month. RSVP to info@compassionateatl.org or sign up on Meetup using this link https://www.meetup.com/Building-Compassion-for-Ourselves-and-Our-Community/events/238413143/

ATL - AROMA Activist Meet and Greet for May

(Thu, 28 May 2026 7:30 pm - 9 pm GMT)
Are you outraged by injustice but don't know what to do? New to activism and/or want to get more involved/connected? Want to support new and current activists in solidarity and love?

Activists Recruiting Organizing and Mentoring in Atlanta (AROMA) hosts activist meet and greets/movement intros every last Thursday of the month, at 7:30pm SHARP.

We will have an Activist Speed-Friending activity, learn more about what it really means to be an activist, and meet some of the folks on the front lines doing the work needed to transform society and transition into a better world!

Please bring some food, drinks, or wine to share, and/or donations and friends. People are finding out about this mostly through word of mouth on facebook so keep inviting!

This will be at the Little Five Point Community Center until further notice.

Please invite everyone you think might be interested in becoming an activist, deepening their activism, or supporting all people to become strong leaders in our movements!

Here are the AROMA values, website, including a database of organizations, and an article written by one of our members:

new website: activismatlanta.com/
upcoming calendar: http://activismatlanta.com/activist-calendar
email address: atlantaactivism@gmail.com

AROMA Values:

1) We promote social justice, liberation, and have an anti-oppressive stance. We challenge ourselves and others to fight all forms of oppression, within and outside of ourselves, and resist the reproduction of oppression.

2) We prioritize the voices and leadership of those who suffer oppression or exploitation based on class, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or immigrant status. We are in solidarity.

3) We support intersectional analyses, visions, and strategies among our various movements.

4) We believe in cultivating new community leaders and developing our leadership.

5) We believe in connecting, nurturing, and building community among new and experienced leaders to promote social justice and solidarity.
