St. Andrew&rsquo\;s Cemetery Tour

Monday\, May 23\, 5:30pm &ndash\; 7:00pm (ra in date\, Monday\, June 6\, 5:30pm &ndash\; 7:00pm) Meet at St. Andrew' \;s Cemetery\, 900 Madison SE\, Grand Rapids\, MI 49504 (gate on Prince St .).
This prayerful\, walking tour will be a special opportunity to le arn about and honor the memory of some of those who were instrumental in f ounding the Catholic faith community in Grand Rapids. Established in 1853\ , St. Andrew'\;s Cemetery is the burial place of many French-Canadian p ioneers as well as German\, Dutch and Irish immigrants. The graves of civi c leaders\, such as the Campau family and philanthropist\, John Clancy\, f ounder of St. John'\;s Home for Orphans may be found there. And of cour se\, several priests who served our diocese in its earliest days were laid to rest at St. Andrew'\;s\, most notably Fr. Andreas Viszosky (for who se patron saint\, the cemetery and cathedral are named) and Fr. Patrick Jo seph McManus\, who served as rector during the construction of the cathedr al.
