Meeting Place:  Parking lot across from Fire Station No. 1 to carpool to trailhead.

Hike Description: This is not an official trail and there will be bushwhacking. We will take the Williams Lake Trail but will turn right before we see the lake. From there, we will bushwhack until we find a trail in the scree field. We will then have to traverse a few small streams as we bushwhack a bit more and climb over some logs. The payoff is a gorgeous meadow which is surrounded by beautiful mountains. We will then follow a stream back down to Williams Lake.

Other Information:  Long pants are recommended due to the bushwhacking. Dogs are not recommended. Bring plenty of water and snacks/lunch. Rain gear and hiking poles recommended as well as a spirit of adventure.

Hike Description:

We will car pool to the trailhead at the top of Palo Felchado Pass. This lollipop hike will be done at at a leisurely pace. We will follow the Palo Felchado Pass trail to Bull Springs Meadow, where we will pick up the Elliott Barker trail and traverse to the far east end of the Meadow. We will then head north on an old section of Elliott Barker, then crossover on an old logging road back to the Palo Flechado Pass trail. We will then return along the trail back to our orginal starting point.

Hike Description:  From U.S. 64 just east of Eagle Nest, we will drive about 4.5 miles up a rocky 4-WD road to the trailhead. We will hike to the top of Touch-Me-Not mountain at 12,044 feet with a 360 degree view including great views of Eagle Nest Lake and expansive views of the Valle Vidal, Latir Peak, Wheeler Peak and the Pecos Wilderness. The hike travels through forested areas before traversing rocky scree fields above the tree line.  The peak may be windy and cold. 

Other Information:  Bring rain gear, plenty of water, snacks and lunch. Hiking poles recommended. Be prepared for potential windy and cold conditions at the peak. Dogs on leash allowed.

Level:               Class 1+ (fairly easy)

Distance:          3 miles

Elevation Gain: 700 feet

Meeting Place:  Parking lot across from Fire Station No. 1

Hike Description:  This beautiful hike along a gorge is very unique. It used to be a dirt road but was closed nearly 30 years ago due to a landslide. Most of the trail is wide but some parts are narrow and rocky. We will hike down to the confluence of the Rio Pueblo and the Rio Grande and then back up. There is very little shade on this hike so it can get hot. For those interested, we will go to lunch in Taos afterwards.

Other Information:  Bring rain gear, plenty of water, sunscreen and snacks. Poles are helpful. Dogs on leash allowed.

Elevation Gain:  2,972 Feet

Meeting Place:   Parking Lot Across from Fire Station No. 1

Hike Description:   This iconic New Mexico hike leads up to the tallest point in New Mexico at 13,167 feet. The begining section is well shaded and in the trees. The trail eventually leads to above tree line. The top third is mostly in a scree field, which is easy to follow but must be mindful of your steps. Beer and pretzels at the bottom at the Bavarian afterwards.

Other Information:  Bring rain gear, plenty of water, snacks and lunch. Hiking poles recommended. Be prepared for potential windy and cold conditions at the peak. Dogs not allowed.

Hike Description:  A lollipop trail that begins with a steep rock climb. It has gorgeous views of Taos. We will go clockwise and get some shade cover before reaching the top. Our hike down will be in the sun and is rocky, but we are treated to more great views. For those interested, we will go to lunch in Taos afterwards.

Meeting Place:   Parking Lot Across from Fire Station No. 1. We will then carpool to Ute Park to meet our guide at 7:30 a.m.

Hike Description:   We have made arrangement with the Phlimont Scout Camp to a guided hike to the top of Mt. Baldy.

Other Information:  Bring rain gear, plenty of water, snacks and lunch. Hiking poles recommended. Be prepared for potential windy and cold conditions at the peak. Dogs not allowed.
