DESCRIPTION:The Old Town General Store is partnering with Larry Grudt of Ke

the community to help breath some life into the old piano we have outside
our store. It is in tune but needs a bit of a facelift. Keys to the City
has made it possible for us to have a piano and Megan McNamara is a local
artist that will create a Michigan-themed design that will be painted on t

Megan’s Doodle Brain coloring book art but specifically tailored for multi

SUMMARY:Meet the Maker - CIndy Allen Vintage Button Rings
DESCRIPTION:Old buttons are fascinating and fun and they make very cool\, u
nique rings! They appeal to our 'inner child' - sorting\, playing\, admiri
ng\, collecting. As a way to display their beauty and being a wire worker\
, Cindy came up with the idea of making a band attached to a button so it
can be worn as a ring. Her technique uses basic tools\, coated copper wire
and\, of course\, buttons! The buttons in her rings are authentically ant
ique or vintage. The most popular are the handcrafted 'picture' buttons fr
om the 1880's\, Victorian black glass\, Art Deco and 1940's intensely colo
red Czech pressed glass. Cindy's original source of collectible buttons wa
s inherited from her Mom. Then she found a local antique collector who sol
d her literally all of her small buttons. Having depleted that supply\, I
now find them on Etsy and other websites. She's made and sold 2000 +/- so
far. Making the rings is actually therapeutic. And collecting the buttons
 is just plain addictive!
