*Official PHoPS Event
Date: Saturday, November 2, 2019
Time: 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm
Place: Northwest Harvest Warehouse in Kent
Address: 22220 68th Ave S Kent, WA 98032-1915
We are looking for 20+ folks to come help out with Northwest Harvest. Volunteers at the Kent warehouse help Northwest Harvest by repacking bulk food into family-sized portions, as well as sorting donations. This food is distributed throughout our network of more than 380 food banks, meal programs, and high need schools.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the shift begins at 12 pm. Orientation will begin promptly at 12 pm and is required for all volunteers.
It is important that all volunteers start and finish together. Our work is done assembly-line fashion so all volunteers work as a team.
Volunteers should be prepared to wear a hair net and gloves during their shift with us.
- JEWELRY: Please leave ALL jewelry, including watches and Fitbits, at home. Jewelry may not be worn while packing food. (Rings and medical jewelry are okay.)
- SHOES: Closed-toe shoes are required. (No sandals or flip flops of any kind permitted—including sandals with socks.) Volunteers without closed-toe shoes will not be able to participate.
- CLOTHING: Sleeves must completely cover underarms. Tank tops, sleeveless shirts, and even cap sleeves are not permitted in the food packing rooms. (Short sleeves are fine as long as underarms are completely covered.) The warehouse can be cold this time of year, and volunteers should dress in layers.
Please do not plan on attending if you are sick, as safety and wholesomeness of the food handled is a primary concern.
Guidelines: Our minimum volunteer age is 9 years old or 3rd grade. Volunteers who are 16 or 17 years old may volunteer on their own with a parent permission form. Volunteers younger than 16 must have an adult chaperone volunteer alongside of them.
RSVP: Alicia Smith, President
