The default setting for the "Today+Happening Soon" (D2) style view looks something like this:
If you want to fit it into a more narrow space, you can move the Date information from the left to the top like this:
Go to Options->General and click "Show More" near the bottom of the page. Select the "Across the Top" option for "On the "Today+Happening Soon" view, show Dates" setting:
