    Fall Creek Garden Tour

Join us for a self-guided walking tour of beautiful gardens, landscaping, and yards in Fall Creek at the 17th Annual Fall Creek Neighborhood Garden Tour.  Visitors will not only see enticing, well-tended front yards but also the hidden delights of private backyards. Begin the tour at Thompson Park at the corner of N. Cayuga and Cascadilla Creek. Start and stop whenever you'd like, chat with gardeners along the way. Rain or shine - FREE and open to all!     Ten or more residents of Ithaca's Fall Creek neighborhood will spruce up their gardens for display for this year's Fall Creek Garden Tour on Sunday, July 14 from 11 AM - 3 PM.  The Fall Creek Garden Club presents this free, self-guided tour every year in order to highlight a variety of urban gardens and gardeners. On the tour visitors will see not only well-tended front yards, but also the hidden delights of private backyards. Garden hosts are present to answer questions. 

    Visitors begin the tour, any time after 11 a.m., by going to Thompson Park at the corner of Cayuga St. and Cascadilla Creek to pick up a map with garden locations and descriptions. 

    While at the park, don't forget to buy raffle tickets for prizes (drawing at 3 p.m.) donated by local garden centers. The Garden Club will also be selling colorful T-shirts featuring its woodcut logo.

    Jewish Film Festival screens, "Yoo Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg" on July 18th

    The Arts Committee of Temple Beth El invites you to its annual Jewish film festival with a series of entertaining films this summer. It will take place in the social hall of the temple, located at the corner of Court and Tioga Streets in Ithaca. The line up continues with: Yoo Hoo Mrs. Goldberg on July 18th and The Last Suit on August 22nd. These are all Thursday evenings. Doors open at 6:30 PM for free refreshments and socializing. The films begin at 7 PM. Tickets are $8 at the door (check or cash only). All films are appropriate for children ages 10 and above. Teens are encouraged to attend.

    Yoo Hoo Mrs. Goldberg (USA 2009) A documentary on television pioneer Gertrude Berg. She was the creator, principal writer, and star of "The Goldbergs," a popular radio show for 17 years, which became television's very first character-driven domestic sitcom in 1949. Berg received the first Best Actress Emmy in history, and paved the way for women in the entertainment industry.
