Big Bands and Ballads: Swing Through the Season

    Saturday Dec 8
    4 pm - 6 pm

    First Baptist Church of Ithaca
309 N Cayuga St, Ithaca, NY 14850, USA

VOICES Multicultural Chorus presents its fall concert “Big Bands and Ballads: Swing Through the Season.” The Swing Era from the early 1930’s to the late 1940’s was a time of worldwide challenge and tragedy. As seems to be the case throughout history, tough times gave rise to captivating music that had the ability to get feet tapping and raise spirits here and abroad. In this far reaching concert, VOICES presents big band classics “Take the A Train,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” and “Bei Mir Bist du Schoen,” blended with the more sedate “La Vie En Rose,” “I Only Have Eyes for You,” “I’ll Never Smile Again,” and seasonal classics “Winter Wonderland,” “The Christmas Song,” and “Mele Kalikimaka.” The chorus will be accompanied by our "Little Big Band" of skilled instrumentalists. Refreshments will be available after the concert. Tickets are $12 in advance ($15 at the door). Children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available from any chorus member and online at: Tickets are available from any chorus member or online at: http://acithaca.org/voices-fall-2018-concert-tickets/
