We often assume older people have or have had partners, children and grandchildren, and belong to 'typical' families. But our assumptions can be wrong, and people can feel hurt and excluded. What determines 'family' for you? We all need to get comfortable with letting go.  Whether it's the things we own, the relationships we have, the stories we tell ourselves or the assumptions we hold, loosening our grip can help us lighten our load.
