Re: Server Slow I mean, yes? I am indeed merging in multiple Google Calendars. You claim to be able to handle that; it's literally the reason I signed up for Localendar in the first place. (That said, I don't understand the decision to process those feeds on the fly; I wouldn't mind if the Localendar version only synced once or twice a day.) The merged calendar loaded within a couple seconds when I was first evaluating whether the service would work for me; has Google changed something in the past month? Regardless, I'm willing to try the static-import approach, provided that there's a way of preserving the separate category names for each constituent calendar. Any advice on how to accomplish that? |

Re: Server Slow Unfortunately, we cannot control the speed that the calendars are served to us. While we could certainly cache event feeds (which is something Google does actually) in our experience people are greatly upset by that approach. There is actually a lot of visceral commentary on the web in reaction to Google doing exactly what you suggest: https://support.google.com/calendar/forum/AAAAd3GaXpEixQnzHmWDSk/?hl=en&gpf=%23!topic%2Fcalendar%2FixQnzHmWDSk The complaints about Google caching have been going on for years! Google says they update every few hours, but 12-24 is what many people experience. You can color-code uploaded calendars just like iCal imports (neither import method is mapped to localendar's internal event categories) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Server Slow It's been running painfully slow for the last several weeks (beginning of October 2019). It's the calendars specifically because this forum works at normally speed but calendars are soooooo slow to display. It's unusable. |

Re: Server Slow We randomly get DOS (Denial-of-service) attacks, and the past several days have been particularly bad. We implemented some countermeasures on our side, and today performance is back to normal. The unfortunate circumstance though is that an attacker can switch to a different bot-net or set of IPs in the future and try again. It's a constant cat-and-mouse game. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
