Improvements to Clipart Library
I frequently use the Clipart Library to store my own images, which I use primarily to insert in the Description of the event. There are several items that would make this task easier, and also perhaps less confusing to users.

1. The button for 'My Clipart Library' is in the 'Add an image to this event' section. But one cannot effectively add an image to the Library when you have a current event open, because then an image is automatically added to the top of the popup. The only safe way is as an 'Add Event', and then Cancel the event after uploading to the Library. So I suggest that either the button for 'My Clipart Library' be moved elsewhere, or under 'Step 2 Choose an Image' that there be a 'No image' option.

2. The Clipart Library only accepts .gif, .png and .jpg files. There are several free programs that quickly and easily create icons in many different icon sizes, but only in the .ico format. Depending on the starting point, it takes several more steps to create a reasonable size in .gif, .png & .jpg. Would it be possible to add the .ico file type to the Library?

3. The easiest way to add an image in the Description, is to click on the 'Insert/edit image' icon under Description, and then choose from the Image list dropdown. There is space to enter an Image Description, which is often very handy. But I cannot see that this information is saved anywhere. It cannot be accessed by clicking on the actual image that one just inserted. Is there some way to save this information, perhaps with the file in the Clipart Library? Then when a file was selected via the Image list dropdown, the Image description would already be there.

Thanks,

Harry

Re: Improvements to Clipart Library
Ah yes, you always have some interesting ideas to get us thinking.

1) You know, that has always annoyed me too. Both on the Editor, and when setting a background image under Options->Colors. Tell you what, I am going to wave my magic wand and get that fixed {!poof!} Done. Check it out coffee
(ok; still not on the Description dropdown. My magic needs to recharge)

2) Regarding uploading/showing ico files.. it's not recommend as not all browsers support it (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13094257/display-an-ico-within-an-image-element-img) You are much better off converting to one of the standard formats.

3) The image description is set as "alt text" when a users browser can't display an image (useful for people who use screen readers). I think it might also show up as a tooltip in regular browsers. I don't think we have any plans to try and retain that for uploaded images at this time.

One out of three isn't bad--once you get your magic recharged. biggrin

And while you are in such a good mood, these two threads, which I last posted to on Sept. 28, could also use some of that magic:

This post addresses a different point than my post yesterday.

As you know, I have only basic knowledge of programming languages. I went to the stackoverflow link, and read that thread. It indicated that older versions of IE were the problem.

But I have had no problem with .ico files displaying on browsers. Go to: http://www.localendar.com/public/OPwebmaster?rss_link=false

and then to Dec. 5, 2014, Frostbite Foresome, and open the popup. The Dodge Viper is an .ico file. It displays in IE 8, 9 & 10 [and IE 7 in Compatibility Mode], as well As Firefox 39, Chrome, Opera 12.16, and Pale Moon 25.

I would appreciate if you would think about reconsidering my request. confused If you are nervous about too much use, then just take the block off of .ico files in My Clipart Library, but don't change the 'Please specify the file' text.

Just because it's you asking - we'll allow it. But we're not gonna brag about it wink

We also added a button to the Event Editor Description toolbar to manage your clipart library (so you don't have to open up the "This event has an image" section if you don't want)

I'll check the other threads you mentioned

Both work great. Thanks a lot! smile smile
