Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working Adding my Localendar to my Google calendar via URL- https://www.localendar.com/public/sgidenver?style=X2 does not work anymore. None of my other Localendars calendars will export to Google anymore. Don't know if problem is with Localendar or Google... Thanks... |

Re: Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working This is response I got from Google Support: Hi Jay, Thanks for posting on the Google Calendar Help Forum. Since you're referring to facing issues when adding the URL that you shared in the actual post, it doesn't seem to be an ICAL url and when I tried to add the same URL in my calendar, I couldn't find any events. However, when I clicked that link and an ICS file got downloaded automatically and when I tried to manually import the events via the ICS file, I got an error "Imported 0 out of 0 events. Unable to process your iCal/CSV file'. As this issue seems to be specific I'd suggest getting in touch with that calendar developer for further assistance. Regards, Edward |

Re: Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working Wow, tech support at Google really seems to be slipping. First, there is no such think as an "ICAL url" so that's an incorrect response. Any url that returns an ical feed is an ical url. Second, I clicked the link you pasted, downloaded the file (as Edward seems to have done) and I opened it up: It contained tons of events. Since you seem to have a dialog finally with someone at Google, let me ask you to reply with this message:

Re: Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working Fingers crossed. I have been trolling their forums looking to see if they have made any changes to their import functionality. So far I have been unsuccessful finding any recent complaints. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working Hi Marc, google asked me to try the URL again and also trying the export ICS file from Localendar and import it to google. Results below. Thank you Marc... Jay Hi Edward, I don't like it, but.... The ICAL import with the URL https://www.localendar.com/public/sgidenver?style=X2 partially works. It imports the Localendar as it was back on about February 7th but doesn't show any changes I've done since. The option to create an export ICS file from Localendar and then import that file into google DID work, but not realizing exactly how that worked, it copied all my Localendar activities into my JAY's calender. I did not like that as it was all the same color as I have several calendars in google and I differentiate them by color. So I had to delete all of the Localendar activities (over 1000) I just imported. I created a new separate calendar in google with a different color. I successfully imported the Localendar into that calendar. It gets the job done but requires several manual steps whereas before when I updated Localendar, google updated automatically. Thank you, Jay |

Re: Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working And importing from a url is still not working at all for you? I did some testing myself using my own calendar last week, and I was able to see my events imported. I agree - importing from a url is extremely more preferable than a file import. The test we supply is *exactly* the same for these 2 methods. Google hasn't provided any answer as to why they treat them differently? When you write "It doesn't show any changes I've made since" I am inclined to think that Google is caching the old feed for performance reasons. I have read peoples' complaints on this same issue many times (one of these threads has people complaining for 2+ years about this problem): https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/calendar/ixQnzHmWDSk https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/calendar/7SgPSL-VgaY https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/calendar/efreVQk_cmw One person does propose this as a fix. Please let me know if you try it and it works for you:

Re: Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working HI Marc - Yeah, I saw and tried the ?NOCACHE option. Nothing.. I tried the X2 parameter again.. Now it doesn't even add the old stuff prior to February 7th. As before, when I click on 'Add Calendar' to add by URL, it just hangs saying 'Updating'. I do a refresh and IE closes the window. Again, I appreciate your support...Thank you.. |

Re: Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working I'm actually having good luck just using the public calendar url with .ics on the end (this is the same data as the X2 feed) example: https://localendar.com/public/sgidenver.ics Are you trying https instead of http? Maybe Google is biased towards https all of a sudden. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Import to Google calendar from Localendar not working I've been having exactly the same problem since February and yes it has suddenly started working again. I guess Google must have fixed something.... Good tip about https versus http. I will try that if the same thing happens again. |
