New Release - 12/29
Besides the new Forums logo wink

Item #1:
There have been some issues regarding members who purchase Premium Webmaster (or higher) subscriptions having problems working with their forums. Sometimes they get strange error messages, other times they may see the wrong forum at their address (!)

We believe we have traced this issue to problems with how we were handling forum authentication. See; we wanted members to only have to log in once - and regardless of which forum they went to, be it these support forums, their personal forums, etc - they wouldn't have to sign in again. But there are some possible pitfalls here that we haven't been able to fully resolve.

So, the cleanest way to fix this for now is to require members to log in again whenever they access a forum for the first time, or switch between forums. That means if you have a personal forum you are working with, and you decide to post a message to the support forums, you will have to re-login.

To those members who have been experiencing the odd behavior that necessitated this fix, please comment on this thread if you are still having issues.

Item #2
Rich-text editor for entering description on the Event Editor. This has been tested a lot, but with something of this magnitude, there are always issues (after all, you outnumber us by several hundred thousand smile ). We have some other enhancements planned in this area , and this forms the base. Please let us know about any problems/feedback.

For some of you who have entered rather extensive HTML in your event descriptions, you may need to click the HTML button on the toolbar if you need to make any edits. The editor doesn't support everything you can do by hand (and can continue to do - but just from the selectable HTML screen now)

Thanks, and happy new year!

Cool added features!

How about a user guide for the un or less html initiated?

I've been doing html hard code in text editors for almost as many years there has been an internet and still fall back on this when Dreamweaver doesn't quite cut it.

Many features and tools one can figure out with a bit of trial and error with linited experience, but basic things like getting an html link to a web site working needs clarification.

Simply adding the usual <a href etc. code now doesn't seem to work as it did when I tried it

Please see my response to your other message. It's not necessary to duplicate posts across forums.

Re: New Release - 12/29
The rich text editor won't allow me to use HTML in the event description area in the same way as I was doing just a couple of weeks ago. Is this an enhancement? For me, I'm about ready to jump ship!

Will this get as easy as it used to be, or are we stuck with wading through the entire HTML in a separate window? crying

Re: New Release - 12/29
There is an HTML button that you can click which opens a secondary window. I agree that's "wading through the entire HTML in a separate window", but what we had before was wading through the entire HTML in the same window smile

We are going to add a preference which will allow you to switch back to the "Classic Editor" if you prefer.

As a temporary hack, instead of using the link on the Add Event button:
http://www.localendar.com/elsie?DAM=EventEditor

to add an event, you can add an event with the old editor by pasting this link:
http://www.localendar.com/elsie?DAM=EventEditor&mode=classic

I don't mind the separate window for HTML coding. But, can you come up with a better editor? This one sucks. Everything is run together, same font, same color, and same weight. It is hard to sort through your HTML code when trying to ad or update anything. crying

For you Firefox users take a look at the Xinha plugin that lets you compose HTML in any form that will accept it. I use it for localendar event titles.
