Two frequently requested features are now available using the Publish Wizard:

1) Many members have requested the ability to have different calendar links that show only a subset of events, filtered by a specific category (or list of categories)

There is now an option which lets you choose which categories are included on your published calendar.

2) Many of you have also requested the ability to hide all events once they have happened. This is now supported as well (events from previous days can be hidden; events that have already occurred on today's date but at an earlier time will still be shown)

Enjoy, and please keep the suggestions coming in the Wish Lists section. These two enhancements were a direct result of your requests.

When you publish a calendar with only certain categories selected all the categories appear at the bottom for selection in the published calendar.

Just letting you know.

Yes, we decided to leave the legend in for now to allow for further filtering.

If you don't want the legend on a published calendar, that can be disabled under the Custom Categories maintenance page (http://www.localendar.com/cal?JSP=CustomCategories)

OK, change of heart. We discussed this a bit and have decided to filter the legend by the selected categories.

One thing that remains: the legend will still only apply to custom categories.

Look for the change to go out this weekend (Nov 1)

One more thing with the filtered categories. When I go back to previous months the entire calendar is displayed, not just the filtered category.

Are you using the browser back button or the month-back button? Can you paste the calendar url you are using?

The filtered list should be retained no matter how you navigate the calendar.

I am using the calendar back button:

http://grange.leighsnelson.com/?page_id=21

If you go back to October you acn see everything, rather than just the filtered items.

Ah; I think perhaps there is some confusion between categories that are filtered from being displayed in the calendar's legend, and categories that are filtered after a user has clicked on them in the legend.

You are already filtering the categories in the legend by choosing to display only Holidays, Junior School, and Junior Sports
You will note that if you move forward and backward through the calendar, those are the only categories shown on the legend.

However, the "interactive embedded" style you are using does not retain the user's "clicked" categories in the legend when moving between months. That is a current limitation of this view style. The full-page calendar view for example (http://www.localendar.com/public/LSnelson) , does not have this limitation

If there is a way to keep the filtered categories when the user changes month, I would love it. Right now, I am publishing my calendar with only a couple of categories filtered out of 8 and the first comment I received was on this matter.

Per my previous post... it depends. There are a few particular methods for publishing a calendar that will not retain your checked categories when you change months.
