I have categories set up for my events and I'm having issues viewing them.

Looking at calendars using different browsers and platforms returns different results.

For example, IE11 seems to show everything.

Chrome sometimes will show nothing (no events), other times literally a few minutes later, just practices, then later, nothing again, etc.

Androids show no events at all. I am not making any changes to the content of the events, simply switching browsers and clicking refresh.

Also, I cannot seem to add more than one new category using Chrome. I enter them, but they don't appear as available, yet in IE11, they are all there. This may be related to the events not showing up in Chrome for example, because, it is the events for the categories which were added after the first one, which don't appear.

If someone from localendar could look in to my account in Chrome and see what I'm seeing, I would be very grateful, because, as of, right now, localendar isn't of any use to anyone in our club unless they are using IE11.

crying HELP!

I purchased the Premium version to remove the ads, but I need consistency and reliability.

If anyone wants to see what I'm referring to, go to http://hpstingrays.org/psc_hp_stingrays_calendar.html and try different browsers and platforms.

Am I missing something?

Since I made the last post, Android seems to be working again (not sure if a change was made or if its just a quirk).

BUT I'm asking someone, especially Support, PLEASE try the following.

1) Launch Chrome and log in to Localendar
2) Try to create more than one Custom Category.

-Do any custom categories (other than the first one created) appear in the list?
-Do any custom categories (other than the first one created) appear in the dropdown list under an event?
-Do any events which are associated to a custom category (other than the first one created) appear in the Monthly view?

For Firefox, I can see all of the custom categories (ie. the first custom one created and those afterword), but on calendar view M2, they don't show up.

So, here's the summary:

(column 1): can create & see more than 1 custom category
(column 2): can see custom categories after 1st on event dropdown
(column 3): can see events with custom categories after 1st on M2

IE11:
Y, Y, Y
Chrome:
N,N,N
Firefox:
Y,Y,N

*All of my events are Public

I believe this is related to other person's posts within the past 2 weeks about missing (public events).

pscmedia:

I responded to your 1st post in the other thread before I realized it was posted here also.

I have 7 Custom Categories on the Localendar on my website. You can see the Localendar here:
http://www.ottawapark.org/calendar-ottawa-park-toledo.html

I created them all in Pale Moon, but as I indicated in my post on the other thread I have 5 different browsers on my computer. I have had Localendar since January and have never had the problem you are describing on any of them.

Hopefully Marc or someone else in support will have some thoughts on your issue.

After I made the posts (I also opened a ticket), throughout the afternoon, I kept checking my site;
-my mobile device started showing everything first,
-later, Chrome started showing (non-first-category) events,
-then Chrome started showing all of the categories under the Options | Events | Edit Categories | Custom Categories admin console
- and by EOD, Firefox started showing everything as well.

I have no explanation other than something possibly was done on the back end. It would appear that when pulling from the DB for custom categories, it would stop with the first, only showing that in the Edit screen and also only using that for filtering of the events on the calendars....just speculation.

I have had this issue on multiple machines on multiple browsers for several weeks, so it can't be "the machine", or "the browser", or versions of "anything" or plug-ins, etc.

EOD yesterday was the first time I was able to see everything on everything....which is obviously what I need, so I'm happy. smile

Help!

I just am not understanding what's going on here.

Today, IE11 only shows events in the Invitational category and nothing else.
Chrome and my mobile device (Android) seem to show everything EXCEPT that category.

These calendars are pulling from exactly the same webpage.
http://hpstingrays.org/psc_hp_stingrays_calendar.html

The script which it is using is
<script src="http://www.localendar.com/public/pscmedia?style=M4&include=Y&dynamic=Y"></script>

As you can see there is no category filtering on the link.

The Month, Week and Day views are all like this.

I'm ready to add another calendar account four our league, but these calendars have to work consistently across all browsers or they are worthless.

Please advise.

Just so other readers are up-to-date (since we've been corresponding mostly by support ticket) - if you are seeing different data in different browsers, the answer is almost always that your different browsers are caching old versions of the page.

We do not serve different content to different web browsers.

Most often, pressing Ctrl+F5 to refresh the page (which forces a cache refresh) will bring up the latest data.

You can also clear your browser's cache with these instructions:
http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser%27s-Cache

There are very rare instances where an internet service provider will cache an old version of a page, but we see this very rarely in locations that have extremely poor internet service.

Thank you for your reply.

Something was getting cached somewhere apparently, although I can't explain why only certain categories would show up across different browsers, using different devices, on different carriers/providers.

Neither [F5], [Ctrl]+[F5], nor even clearing the cache, would allow the full calendar to appear when it would "flake out".

Only after completely closing the browser, did the full compliment of events appear.
I now know what to do in such an event.

This problem is an issue for me as well. I use this on my business site and I'm sorry but the clearing your cache option doesn't always fix the problem and I can't tell my clients that they need to try five browsers to get the correct information. I am due to have my premium account expire on the 22nd and I'm not sure if I will renew it as this system obviously has some major issues staying current and stable. This is not simply a 'browser issue' this is an issue with your system and it's inability to stabalize after updates of information. This needs to stay consistent every day, someone needs to source why this happening on localendars end rather than just playing with browsers hoping for it to display properly. I would really like to have something I can rely on and I would be happy to pay for it but I'm not tossing money at something that won't be consistent for my clients.

4YourMind,

You didn't really give us any context here. Where have you published the calendar? Have you included any default category filtering? Do the items show up in the legend (but just not checked?) or do the categories not show up in the legend at all?

As OPWebmaster has demonstrated, custom categories are working fine for other users, and we haven't touched any related code on our side.

If something is not working across browsers, it may not be related to caching of the entire web page, but it could be related to a previous session where you filtered categories. That's where more information is useful.
