I have created a table to make it easier for volunteers to add/edit events for scheduling their volunteer patrols. You can view my test calendar at: http://www.localendar.com/public/OJPpatrol?rss_link=false

Four sample events are set up in July 2015. On the popup, all text shown in Bold is pre-entered by me in the Table. The volunteer just adds the non-bold text and the 'X' in the table.

My first problem occurs with the last row in the table, titled 'Comments:'. This line is composed of two cells which consume about 3/4 of the width of the popup window, and a vertical height which will hold two lines of text. I have manually set the width of each of the two cells.

However, when I type in the second cell (which on the July 18 entry says 'Lets meet at the trailhead.'), if I type enough text to fill the width of the cell, Localender does NOT seem to word wrap. What it does is DEcrease the width of the 1st cell (which contains 'Comments;') until 'Comments' disappears.

So how do I stop this, and get some form of word wrapping?

My second problem relates to the red 'X' the volunteer enters. That section of the table has three cells on each line, with the 'X' being in the middle cell. I chose the color red and increased the font size to make it stand out easier. I have created a Master for the volunteers, which does not contain any of the X marks. But once I created the Master, the formatting for the red and for the larger font size disappears. I went to the Source Code, and removed just the X portion of the respective line entry. But when I did that, the program was smart enough (unfortunately) to delete all the formatting also.

So is there some way that I can retain the formatting for color and text size in the middle cells without having text pre-entered?

My third problem relates to the inexperience of my volunteers with Localendar. I am sure the table setup with the Master event will work. Unfortunately, if someone by mistake selects 'Update' as opposed to 'Save as Copy', or selects 'Delete', then my Master is gone.

So is there some code I can add that will disable the 'Update' and 'Delete' options on the Edit Event page? [If it is code, I can remove it if I need to update or delete the master]

My fourth problem is minor. When you open the pop-up, you will see that there is a lot of space between the 'Comments' line and the 'Export' line. Is there code I can add somewhere to reduce this space?

On a side issue. your code for 'Controlling the Event Popup Size',
<script>self.resizeTo(pixel width, pixel height)</script> seems to work in all my browsers except IE ( I have 10), which still displays the pop-up as full screen.

A lot of info in there :)
The short version is: localendar isn't currently designed as a data collection/survey/rsvp-type system where you can create a custom template and have people fill it out. I don't think your various workarounds (or us trying to put a square peg in that round hold) is the best answer.

What I am *expecting* you to come back with (after playing around with the scheduling beta) is a request to add custom fields (besides email) when you have visitors submit events. This is just a suspicion I have... wink

So far I have just read the instructions several times, but at this point I am having trouble seeing that I can meet my needs with custom fields. But I will spend more time with it--after all, that is the purpose of beta.
