On the Options->Events screen, Common Event Information, I have several questions:

1. Plain text seems to work, and <script>some info</script> also works, but I tried to copy some source code information from another entry, and although that was saved, nothing was displayed. Exactly what format can information be entered here?

2. Is there a maximum character or line limit on what can be entered? I tried maybe 30 lines of code, and when I tried to save it, all the code disappeared.

3. It seemed that when I was able to enter the text correctly, I had to Sign Off before it would appear on my calendar. Is that the way it is supposed to function, or did I make a mistake?

The size limit of that field is 2,000 characters (the same for the calendar header and footer)

If you enter more text than that, it will be truncated at 2000 chars. This can be a problem if you try and enter custom HTML, and say, you start with a <div> tag, and the closing </div> is lost b/c of truncation.

There is no need to sign off to see the Common Event info on the calendar. A simple refresh should suffice.

Marc:

Thanks for the clarification on character limits.

But I am still puzzled why I could not get my source code to function when less than 2000 characters. It worked fine now, so I won't worry about it.

Is there some way to have the 'Common Event Information' displayed when the 'Add Event' screen is opened? Sometimes we would want to have common information mixed in with our message, and NOT placed at the bottom of the screen as it is now.

No plans in that regard. I/We appreciate the suggestions b/c it does make us think about how localendar is used and how it can be improved. One of the primary criteria we consider is "How will it affect usability" and we balance a potential feature change against that (also "How many people have asked for it?")

In the case of an ability to move the common event information around, it would have to add some more complexity to the Event Editor, which is already more crowded that we'd like (and yet we still have other features we want to add there)

Also, since there is a workaround for this (copy-n-paste!), purely from a resource perspective it makes more sense for us to address features we are missing (like the delegated administration rights I know you want to have smile )

Marc:

I know you can't please everyone, and you have done a great job helping with changes I have asked for. So I will back off this one.
