Looking for a calendar which scrolls upwards, as the time for the event ends the event disappears, leaving the next event viewable until it expires, etc.

Participants don't really need to know what's already happened, just what is going to happen.

Perhaps the "Today+Happening Soon" view will work for you?

It shows events happening now, and some period into the future (the default is 10 days, but you can set more/less). Past events don't appear.

(you can learn more about changing the date range and other settings for this view on our Additional General Options page
