i got a message from paypay saying it was time for renewal, but i have changed cards since the account was set up, so the charge did not go through. now, i cannot get paypal to cooperate in letting me change information. how can i make sure my account gets paid?

Paypal should let you change a funding source for an account at any time. I would suggest sending them a support email.

You've got almost 3 weeks left on your subscription, but let me know if you need an extension b/c they give you some crazy delays.
