Is it possible to merge merged calendars into one without listing all of the individual calendars. Hopefully this makes sense.

No; merged calendars are 1 level deep. That is, if you have 10 calendars merged onto 1 calendar, and you include that calendar on another's merge list, you aren't going to see 11 calendars - just the 1 you merged (hope that makes sense, too)
