Edit this Post   I merged another cub scout Den's calendar to get common Pack information, but Reply to this Post

now I want to remove stuff particular to their Den on my Den's calendar, but leave the common Pack stuff. I can't figure out how to do this. Surely, I should be allowed to edit my own calendar to look like I want it to look. I'm trying to take advantage of the work they've done, and if successful, the whole Pack will probably want to do the same. But if each merged calendar isn't individually editable, that's not going to work.

Thanks for help,

Den Leader

I saw this from reviewing other messages in the forum for the help folks "the merged events are not local copies: they are the actual events from the merged calendar. As such, the "merge-or" cannot change or delete them (but if the owner of the merged calendar updates them, the changes will automatically be reflected on any calendars that pull them in)"

OK, is there any way to just copy their calendar instead of merge? I'm just trying to save the work of retyping in everything the other Den has done.

Thanks

If you had access to that other calendar's logon/password, you could export the events and import them into yours. That would require both calendars have at least a Premium Basic subscription though. Otherwise, there is not a method to copy events between calendars.

Thanks. That's worth 9.95 a year per subscriber. What's the best way to learn about import/export? I had the impression that this was for using with a PDA, e.g. Palm Pilot. How does one export an event from one's calendar to another's? Since I have the trial premium, I could play with it on my own, using a dummy ID....if you could just kindly point me in the right direction...

It should be fairly easy. The Export button on the menu isn't the one you want to use though. It uses a plug-in to communicate w/ Palm, Outlook, etc.

You want to go to:
http://localhost/elsie?JSP=Export

and use that page to export events from a calendar to a file.

Then, go to your other calendar, and click the Import button to upload that file. Uploaded events won't have the color or image info, and repeating events are treated as separate occurrences (of course, you can modify the imported events to change them as needed)
