Our next Emergency Food Bag Project is scheduled for Friday\, \;May 2. Volunteers are asked to meet about 10:30a at St. Joseph's Outreach Center\, 1349 Military Turnpike\, Plattsb urgh. \;
The food bags are designed to meet the emerg ency food needs in a motel room setting. The bags now include a small toil etry kit containing shampoo\, body wash (soap)\, toothbrush and toothpaste .

What's involved? \;Voluntee rs \;unload food from cars (that come from the warehouse space we use) and 'the \;closet' at St. Joe's\, set out all the food on \;table s\, assemble 140-160 bags\, then break down boxes and load \;bags into cars at the end. We are usually done by noon. The bags are then delivered to the Plattsburgh Public Library\, the hospital social workers' office\, and area \;motels that work with the Department of Social Services (D SS) to house folks in need of shelter. We have been blessed with willing v olunteers each time.

In the presentation made to the Council\, it is evident that both Phil and L eigh have thought long and hard about this arrangement and are eager to wo rk with us all. To give all the churches a chance to ask questions about t he appointment both Leigh and Phil will be traveling to the various church es involved\, sharing their vision. If you cannot attend the meeting in Pe ru or if another location is more convenient you may attend in a different location since they are not geared to specific churches.
