Fall Foliage Festivals in the NEK- Cabot

SATURDAY, SEPT. 27 CABOT

Exploring the NEK's foliage starts in Cabot. Register at the Town Common between 10 a.m.-Noon to learn about the day’s events, including self-guided tours, trail hikes, open houses at area businesses and presentations by some of Cabot’s entertaining residents. In the afternoon, the Cabot Cheese and Culture Festival opens featuring tastings, education and celebration highlighting Vermont cheesemakers, producers of cultured and fermented foods, chefs, brewers and food vendors. Top off your day, a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the Cabot Church from 5-6:30 p.m, take-out only, with outdoor dining on the Town Common.

Newport Fall Festival

Autumn is a special time in the Northeast Kingdom, and what better way to celebrate turning of the leaves than with an old-fashioned festival. Downtown Newport's fall events are hosted in collaboration with several community organizations. including Parks & Recreation, the North Country Chamber of Commerce and several local vendors and organizations. The weekend includes:
-A photo contest display at the Parklet
-Scarecrow contest displayed throughout the city
-Farmers market at Gardner Park
-A concert by the Newport Area Volunteer Band at the municipal parklet 11am-1pm
-A classic car show in the municipal parking lot from 11am-2pm
 -And of course, the Chilifest contest that will warm your inner leaf peeper! 12pm-2pm

SUNDAY, SEPT. 28 MARSHFIELD

Marshfield Harvest Festival, (11-3). Free Family-Friendly Activities: cider pressing, face painting, arts & crafts, field games, music, petting zoo, 4-H demonstrations, chicken races and more! Book sale, bake sale, horse & wagon rides, craft sale, flea market & farmers’ market. Food tent: (11-2) homemade locally made food & pizza. (11-3) VT Steam & Gas Engine Association exhibit of antique engines, farm and industrial equipment. Live demonstrations: a walking beam gasoline engine; an antique gear-driven wood splitter powered by a hit and miss Jumbo 3HP engine; a home-made cement mixer powered by a 3HP Galloway; and the James Leffel Steam Engine driven by a throttle governed 1928 3HP Fairbanks Morse engine on moving display. Fall Foliage Festivals in the NEK - Walden & Plainfield

MONDAY, SEPT. 29 WALDEN

Our day begins at 9 a.m. at the Walden Church in Noyesville Village to register and pick up a Walden packet. Our tours are self-led Open Visits with boldly marked introductions on a map in the packet. Walden-wide residents invite you to see how they make a living or supplement their incomes by working or crafting in their homes, fields & studios. Open visits & spots for foliage/scenery viewing are marked with bright orange OPEN VISIT signs. There will be a luncheon opportunity during the tours. Our open-spit Barbecued Beef Supper starts at 5:30 p.m. and is served family style with mashed potato & gravy, peas & carrots, rolls & butter, beverage and home-baked pumpkin or apple pie. Take-outs available/adult & child rates.
