Local families, clubs, organizations, teams and citizens are invited to pick up bags from our office and cover non-roadside clean-up areas in our town like parks, bike paths and the waterfront. The Met’s 2025–26 Live in HD season concludes on May 30 with a live transmission of American composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s first opera, a magical-realist portrait of Mexico’s painterly power couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. With a libretto by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz, the opera reverses the Orpheus-and-Euridice myth: on the Day of the Dead, Frida (sung by mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard) leaves the underworld to reunite with Diego (baritone Carlos Álvarez). The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love—embracing both passion and pain—before bidding the land of the living a final farewell. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Met-premiere staging, praised for its confident, richly imagined score that “bursts with color and fresh individuality.” Directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker, the vibrant production draws inspiration from Frida and Diego’s paintings.
