CLOG New Year trip to Todmorden Lancashire

Saturday December 28th 2018 to Thursday 2nd January 2019

Only CLOG Members can apply for a place on this trip.

The CLOG New Year trip takes place in the quiet rural hamlet of Todmorden (in Lancashire OL14 6HR). YHA Mankinholes is a former 16th century manor house in the East Lancashire countryside and is well situated for walks in the nearby Pennine moorland.

The Pennine Way and Calderdale Way are close by and there is an abundance of other footpaths, bridleways and packhorse trails to explore.

Despite the quiet, rural location, YHA Mankinholes is within easy reach of other attractions should the weather prove inclement. Eureka!, the National Children’s Museum in Halifax, Shibden Estate, The Piece Hall, Bankfield Museum, Haworth, The Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Railway and Hollingworth Lake & Activity Centre are all nearby.

The hostel enjoys excellent views and boasts a cosy lounge with a log burning stove, making it a favourite for those looking for a peaceful spot to relax after a long day’s walking.

The Hostel has a well equipped kitchen that we will use to prepare our breakfasts and our New Years’ Day Communal meal and a dining room that will seat 32. The sleeping accommodation is spread over 8 rooms (some ensuite) with varying numbers of bunk beds. There are 26 places available within the Hostel. A limited number of members using B&B accommodation will be permitted to join the trip once the Hostel is full.

The cost of the trip for those staying in the Hostel will be approximately £180 (owing to the hefty increase in Hostel hire charges) whilst those staying in B&B accommodation will be charged approximately £5 for sandwiches and the communal meal. The trip will be advertised at the beginning of October.
