Re: Google ads The addition of Google ads is due to a pilot program we have been testing recently. Calendars with at least a Premium Basic (9.95/yr) or greater subscription will not display any ads. That's about 83 cents a month. Calendars w/ no subscription whatsoever may display ads. Since non-subscribing members are using hosting/editing services at no charge, this helps offset the associated costs. Alternatively, we could raise subscription rates, but that doesn't seem fair to those members. Since new members receive a 30-day free trial of Premium Webmaster, that might explain why some calendars do not display ads. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Google ads If my memory serves me correctly, one of the LOCALENDAR.COM's greatest claims to FAME was the fact that there was NO ADVERTISING on the published calendar. I suspect that this alone attracted thousands upon thousands of the subcribers your way. I suppose in today's world of mass commercialism, localendar became a prime target for the marketers. Another bastion of independance falls . . . . . |

Re: Google ads I wouldn't blame "mass commercialism". The fact is, servers and bandwidth cost money, and the existing Premium Subsciber revenue is insufficient to keep up with all the resources being used by the non-contributing members. We could either place more of a burden on our subscribers, or let those who have been using our hosting, bandwidth, and support for their calendars carry some of the burden. Since an ad-free calendar can be had for as little at 83 cents per month, we think that's a reasonable solution. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Google ads The ads should be removed as soon as your subscription is processed, which typically takes 5-10 minutes. You may need to sign off/back in. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Google ads Are you sure you registered for this member name? Your subscription hasn't been activated (at least for this account) and I can't find any record from PayPal. If you sign in to PayPal, you could also get the transaction id for your payment which would help us track down what happened. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Google ads I need to make sure we are getting the Premium Basic package. How do I do that and also how can I make payment? We are a church who supports AA and cannot have adds that are anti - AA running in association with our church calendar. |
