My reminders are now being sent out Hi - I have a handful of events on my calendar set up to send reminders, however, the reminders are not being sent. For example, today I have 5 events and two have reminders set up with a 6 hour lead time. No messages have arrived and it is 2.5 hours before the event. Is there an issue with the mail agent? This was working fine a couple of weeks ago. Thanks! |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out I had a similar occurrence. I posted lots of reminders with reminder times from 5 minutes to 2 hours on 8/14 (yesterday). The reminders would have triggered between 12:45 PM (EDT) and 7:45 PM. As of midnight, none had been received. I opened my Email for the 1st time today (Aug. 15) at about 11 AM. They were all there! So something delayed them from somewhere between 11 and 23 hours. I posted something on the forum, and also sent in a Support ticket about these on 8/14, but no response to either as yet. I just tried to send new reminders with 5 minute delays. NONE were received! So either the problem has reoccurred, or there is now a time lag in the Localendar system. Harry |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out KeystoneEnrichment had filed a support ticket and responded that emails were now working correctly. Nothing seems wrong on our side. OPWebmaster, 5 min reminders are tricky; especially if you are trying to test an event 5 minutes from now. Your clock may say 4:54 for example, so you try a 5:00 event with a 5 minute reminder. If our server time is 4:55 however, and your PC is off, you're not going to get anything. Not sure how fine you were trying to slice things, but in the example above if my PC said 4:54, I'd still do 5:05 w/ a 5 min reminder when testing. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out Marc: They have all worked since 8/17, but were touch and go before then. I recognize the issue on when I send in the reminder vs. when I want to receive it, but your warning is well taken. I always allow at least 5 minutes between when I request it, and the time I want to receive a reminder (i.e., if I want the reminder at 10:00 PM, I make sure I post it before 9:55 PM.) And all mine are in the same time zone, so that is not an issue. When trying to sort through this, I wondered if there was a way that I could send the reminder when the event was ADDED, as opposed to when the event OCCURS? In my case, that would actually work better, since my users are not scheduling meetings, but are asking for help on a certain date/time. Is this possible? Harry |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out You can already set up a notification for when a visitor adds an event to the calendar (under Options). Is that what you're after? Btw - somewhere (sooo many posts ) you asked about expanding the email address fields. There are 2 now, and each is 400 chars for a total of 800 chars. I checked and there are no plans to expand these fields at this time.---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out Marc
That is the idea, but it says 'Notify ME of new....'. Can I change code somewhere so that goes to my googglegroups.com address instead of to my personal Email address? Then I would not have to worry about Reminder Emails.
You get so many posts because you are just so popular The 'Schedule a reminder email' fields on the Add Events page do indeed hold 400 characters each. But rather than doing a cut and paste of the emails each time, it is easier (and one less place for my users to make a mistake) to list them under Reminder defaults on the Options->General page, so they pop up automatically on the Add Events page, and all one has to do is check the boxes. But the email fields on the Options->General page only hold 100 characters each-not the 400 (400 would be fine for me). Harry |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out The default under Options->General will now allow 400 chars in each field. Sending the "A new event has been added" emails is currently only possible to your (calendar owner) email. But being able to change this is an interesting idea. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out Marc:
Your documentation says that Email address is used if your password is lost/forgotten. Is it used for anything else? What information does Localendar require when one says he forgot his password, before it is sent to him? My fix might be a problem with normal Localendar uses, but since OJPpatrol has limited access and requires a unique password for each user to sign in, I don’t see a problem in my case. There is one thing that you could do, that would greatly help me. The notices you send include the Title text, the Description text, and the event date. But they do NOT include the starting time, or the selected Category. Thus whoever receives these notices must open the calendar, and search that date to see what might fit the text. Adding the starting time and Category would solve this problem. For most Localendar users, the ‘Schedule a reminder email’ on the ‘Add Event’ page works fine to remind people of upcoming meetings and appointments already scheduled. But in my case, checking the ‘Notify me of new events via email’ box below ‘Allow Visitors to Add Calendar Events’ on the Options->General page is best, because the volunteer patrol coordinates their activities with the Police, and the Police want to know as soon as something has been scheduled. Since volunteers sometimes decide a week in advance, and other times an hour in advance, a reminder Email based on a specific time before the event is not really practical. Plus, that is one less variable that they have to set. Thanks again, Harry |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out
Yes, that is possible, but we don't recommend it b/c of the security risks. We haven't explicitly stopped members from doing this (and you are not the first) We'll consider adding a separate notification option, but please be aware that having 2 "personal" email addresses means it is possible for someone else to request a password email reset for your account. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out Marc:
I recognize that someone else on my Google calendar list could request a reset, but since the Email address for this account which Localendar sees is MY Email address as well as Google Calendar, at least I will get the Email that Localendar sends out, and I will know that a password change is occurring. For this account, I think the risk is small. So just expand the space to 75 or 100 characters, and add the event starting time and selected Category to the notices that Localendar sends out (as explained in my previous Email), and I will be all set. Re: My reminders are now being sent out why not just use a specific email group (with 1 address) as the "calendar owner" email under Options->Security? Then you could have as many members as you wish. We could make the field larger to allow more emails to be crammed into that space, but the code is really intended to only send 1 email to 1 user. The distribution list idea would seem to work for both of us... btw, Category will take a bit of effort to add. But isn't the start time already on the email? it should be above the title in between the [ ] ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out Marc:
http://www.ottawapark.org/reference/images/Localendar_addEventProblemE.png Image #1 (the top one) is how I fill out the 'Add Event' screen, which includes the Start time and Duration. #2 is what the Popup shows when the event is clicked on. #3 is what I, as the submitter receives from Localendar. Note that the date is added to the end of the Title entry, but NO times are listed. And #4 is what the owner (2 in this example) receives [different Email program]. Again, only the date shows at the end of the Title entry, and NO times. Category is really not necessary if I could have both start and end times included. I foresee several 'Patrol Schedule' events on the same day, so having a starting time is vital. There may be some with identical starting times, so that is why I ask for the ending time. I envision few, if any, which have identical start AND ending time. It is only this last problem that having the Category would help sort out. Harry |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out Ah - the image explains a lot. For some reason, I thought you were talking about the Event Reminders, which *do* contain the time and category. I'll check into what would be involved in adding to the emails in your example. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out OK - the event time and category should now be present on the notification emails that are sent out. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out Marc:
That works great! Just what I needed. Thanks. Not sure if this is related to your change or not, but notifications that I sent Saturday night [which is when I opened your post and tried it] took about 4 hours before they were 'delivered'. Reminders took about the same amount of time. And in fact, the same reminders were sent again today. I added new events today, and those notifications took about an hour to be delivered.
They include the time, but not the category. Perhaps you could add that here also?
That is essentially what I was trying to do with the Google group, but I also wanted the owner's (me) Email address also listed. You only allow 50 spaces, and I needed about 65. My Email program allows me to set up a group, but that group can only be used within my Email program. Is there an alternative way? Harry |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out I just did a test Add, and got the time and category in my notification email: Calendar add event test on 11/24/2015 9 pm (Conference Room 2) (Conference Room 2 was the category) Are you not seeing them? Is there a reason you cant put yourself in the google group email? groups.yahoo.com would also probably work. Again, I hesitate to request enlarging the field b/c the odds are that we will correct supporting more than 1 email in the owner field in the future. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: My reminders are now being sent out Marc:
Yes, I see them when I do an ADD Event. But you had indicated they were both there for Event Reminders; only the Time is there, NOT the Category.
Ill try that. Harry |
