Edit this Post   How to add DEFAULT text to Description box to capture specific information? Reply to this Post

I absolutely, positively need to be able to capture specific information from the people that add events into my calendar. I was wondering if (and hoping that) I can add some default text to the Description edit box to specify exactly what information I need from them. Is there a way I can add default itext to this description edit box?

Just to be clear, I would like people who are adding an event to be able to see default text inside the description box...

Let me check into this. There is an option for "Common Event Description" text under Options, but I think that doesn't appear until *after* an event is created.. There might be a way to make this appear first.

Its now 2026 and I cannot get this to work...

Common Event Information

The text you enter in this field is added after any description you enter on individual events. If all of your events have something in common (like a contact phone #, or a web site address) you can use this field instead. Plus, if the information changes, you only need to edit it in one place.

I added default information to this default field and when I create a new event, that information is not anywhere I can find. Is there something wrong with this option?

I just tested it and it works for me.
Keep in mind that the text you enter in "Common Event Information" only shows up when a user clicks on that event from the public calendar view. You won't see this information automatically added to the Event Description when you are signed in and using the Event Editor.

Also, when you update the "Common Event Information", the latest version of that text is what is always shown when a user clicks on a public event.
