I posted the ?style=M4 on my existing calendar instruction link and nothing changed. Here it is to examine.

I just went out and took a look and it looked exactly like it should using ?style=M4

Is it possible when you changed the code you didn't refresh the view and it stayed in the old format? Not sure refreshing is required but......

Yes, that link is fine. You don't have any events that span multiple days, which is what that publish style is for - so nothing *would* look that different. What were you expecting to see?
