Thread Topic Suggestions re: email reminder
Thread Body I've had a problem with the email reminder and have seen multiple postings to this effect. I asked a tech at our ISP to look into it, and here's what he had to say:

The mail server which sends the reminders issues this incorrect command
HELO elsie
or
EHLO elsie

Neither is correct, as the parameter to the HELO or EHLO command must be the fully-qualified name of the sending host or the host's IP address contained in brackets, as [69.13.223.18]

While the mail RFCs say that a site must not reject connections simply for an invalid HELO parameter, many do as a spam reduction measure. It should be possible for you to configure the sending server to issue correct HELO or EHLO commands.

Also, the server's IP address 69.13.223.18 has no name in the domain name system. It is up to the provider of that IP (C I Host) to handle the reverse name service. Lack of a name for the IP address of the connecting machine is treated by many mail servers as grounds for rejecting the transaction; other mail servers add spam identification points for the lack of a name. The provider I use scores nameless servers fairly high in "spammishness" or, as a customer option, blocks messages from such servers.

It also appears that your sending server (which, if it is the same as your receiving server, is "ArGoSoft Mail Server Pro for WinNT/2000/XP, Version 1.8 (1.8.1.9))" fails to retry recipients for which it receives a 4xx (temporary) error in response to the RCPT TO: command. Failing to retry will prevent you from sending messages to servers which employ "greylisting" to reduce spam and viruses, unless the receiving servers' administrators arrange special exemptions ("whitelisting"). Temporary errors can happen for many reasons other than greylisting, and retrying should be routine. (There is an RFC suggestion that the retry not happen for a half hour, although in the modern Internet many servers retry sooner.)

Taken together, these problems make it likely that your reminders will be unreliable.
