We do routinely use Yahoo's YSlow and Google's PageSpeed on some of these items. In some cases, some of the settings result in extremely minimal performance gains while potentially effecting the end-user experience.

The worse thing we want to happen is for a user's browser (or their ISP) to incorrectly cache old js files and potentially serve stale versions.

On the dimension front, we should have a size, but I will also point out more importantly that the browser should cache it after the first read. The re-size is strictly a client-side activity (and not even milliseconds in this case)
