Re: User deleting name I don't think I can offer another solution at this time.. All I can suggest again is that with "merging", they could check the master calendar first, and then go to their personal calendars to make changes when necessary. Your problem does overlap with another member's request (OPWebmaster, I'm looking at you) to essentially have the calendar work as an "open" resource.
