Actually, I think Merging is what you would want.
Let's start by assuming you make 2 calendars, A and B. A is the informational one, and B has everything from A, plus other events you would like to add.

Calendar A technically does not need any subscription (unless you want ads removed). You create public events on that calendar for your classes.
Calendar B gets at least a Personal subscription (which enables Merging). You merge A onto B (only public events are brought over). Whenever you add/update an event on A, it automatically appears on B.

Meanwhile, you can add events just to B that will only appear on B. Each calendar will have its own unique url:
https://localendar.com/public/A and https://localendar.com/public/B

(you can also use our publish wizard to generate the HTML/Script to embed the calendars inside webpage(s) on your site)
