Deleting Entries Hi, I am new to calendar creation and my first attempt is to make one for a village hall showing use/availability. It has a couple of nurseries and other organisations that use the hall throughout the year except for school holidays; other users are continuous throughout the whole year. I seem to have two options. Either enter nurseries etc about 4 times for each of the school terms with the others entered for a continuos period; or I show them all continuous, delete the school holidays and then re-enter those who continue through the school holidays. As broad as it is long! Is there a way of selecting which events have periods of deletion while others are left intact? The present deletion option only appears to have a global function? Or hopefully there's a better way that someone can tell me of please? Thanks Peter |

Re: Deleting Entries There are 3 ways to delete an event: Removing the entire series, removing individual occurrences, and by entering "skip dates" (skip dates are edited on the Event Editor) Could the task you are suggesting be solved by removing specific instances of a repeating event on specific dates? ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Deleting Entries Thanks for your prompt response Marc, The main school holidays,(UK), are usually taken at Christmas, Easter and Summer with half terms taken in between. These periods are for a week or two, except for the Summer Holiday being about six weeks in duration, something like 13 weeks holiday in total! Therfore deleting individual days is not really an option, plus the fact that there are 2 (daily) nurseries and another 2 or 3 (weekly) organisations that do not operate during school holidays. I believe 'skip dates' are used to delete up to 8 individual occasions, (individual days?), and not for say, a deletion from 25 July to 2 September counting as only 1 occasion/deletion. Is there a method of deleting from 25 July to 2 September in one operation for selected events only? Ideally, I'd be able to enter the whole year for an event, then be able to select periods throughout the year to delete for that event. A further bonsus would be to be able to include, in the one operation, any other similar events that require the same period deletion. I will probably have to enter the nurseries and the other organisations as a number of entries each, to cover the whole year period. If that's so, then OK, as long as I'm not missing an easier option. Thanks Peter |

Re: Deleting Entries Ah; now I understand what you mean. I can think of a couple ways to approach this issue.. but we don't support any of them :( Most likely, we would do a "skip range" or something similar. I'll pass this issue along to the Devs to add to the wish-list. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
