confused   The Mini Calendar, Wikia, and Me
Hello, my name is Amelia and I am the night auditor for my hotel. I've been in charge of our event calendar for the past 2 years, which I've gladly utilized LoCalendar to manage. I've recently wanted to expand that into a more useful tool for our front desk staff and guests, to include information on local attractions, restaurants, shopping, etc (not just events).

Enter Wikia. Some months back, I created a free wiki about our area using the Wikia site. I don't care for the calendar plugin that they use, though -- I really am pleased with LoCalendar as a place to post about local events. So I decided to use both tools and just integrate them, since you guys offer the nice little Mini Calendar tool.

Here is the link to the main page of the wiki: http://centraloregon.wikia.com

So I got it to show up on the page (you can see it in the sidebar to the right, under the Wikia-inserted ad). However, it appears to be having some conflicts with the Wikia JavaScript, because none of the event pop-ups will show up and the arrows to change the month don't work.

Unfortunately, I don't have any control over the Java that Wikia automatically inserts into their pages. I have looked for help on the Wikia support forums, but no one there had any suggestions. I was hoping that maybe someone here might be able to offer me an alternative method to get the calendar to work? I'd really like to keep using LoCalendar, because I do like the product.

Re: The Mini Calendar, Wikia, and Me
I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum (sorry, I missed the "Cobranders" heading when I went to "General Discussion"). Tried to move thread, said I didn't have permission. Tried to delete it, but it says I can't delete a thread over 1 day old.

Re: The Mini Calendar, Wikia, and Me
Hi Amelia,

No worries about moving the thread, I already took care of it smile

I checked your site though and I don't see the localendar widget. To help diagnose the problem, we would need to see the localendar mini calendar on a page somewhere (it doesnt have to be the home page, a temporary test page would do just as well)

If you still want us to check it out and can post a sample url to look at, that would be great.

Re: The Mini Calendar, Wikia, and Me
Sorry it took me so long to reply -- things have been hectic.

You can't see the widget? It's on that page, under the "Event Calendar" heading. It should be on the right-hand side, just below the Wikia-inserted advertisement. It's a mini-calendar, so it's in the sidebar. Should be green, with little green circles around the dates.

The weird thing is, the calendar displays properly. It even circles the dates that have events on them properly. However, clicking anything on it doesn't appear to work. Can't get the month to change by clicking the arrows and can't get the events to pop up by clicking the dates. Obviously, that makes the calendar somewhat useless, because people can't see what events are going on when they click on the dates.

Re: The Mini Calendar, Wikia, and Me
Yes, it looks like they are loading a lot of stuff that is monkeying with the calendar widget. Give us some time to dig into their stuff and see if we can provide work-arounds. In the meantime, you might consider adding a link to a full-page view of the calendar so visitors can see your events.
