iCalendar merge not working so, i have had my ical calendar merged with my localendar for about a year then a few weeks ago my localendar went blank and stopped showing my public ical calendar. whenever i try to re-add it i get an error message…. here is the link i get from ical: webcal://p04-calendars.icloud.com/published/2/UAMdq6TiaoT2XK7OYJ1m9wwxI0Zl0qOZmPTdWLIqVKKBHRaBUiNWIEEjkWg8aSmAYP5h-tG5VFRgiOR-zF9gMEOmiqGRpYlIYk-plBw-FVM and here is the error message i get: http://p04-calendars.icloud.com/published/2/UAMdq6TiaoT2XK7OYJ1m9wwxI0Zl0qOZmPTdWLIqVKKBHRaBUiNWIEEjkWg8aSmAYP5h-tG5VFRgiOR-zF9gMEOmiqGRpYlIYk-plBw-FVM was unable to be merged. Please check that the url is working and the calendar is in valid iCal format. is there a work around for this? as i need to get my ical public calendar back up as soon as possible. thanks |

Re: iCalendar merge not working When in doubt, I always check the public iCalendar validator at: http://severinghaus.org/projects/icv/ That site does confirm that your url is not in valid iCalendar format. Now, I can't imagine Apple is messing up the iCalendar export for the code they generator ( and I imagine there would be a fire storm online if this was the case, and I don't see that). So my suspicion is that perhaps some data that you recently added is being exported in a way that causes the problem. Any recently event changes or additions come to mind since you started having this issue? ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: iCalendar merge not working Thanks for this, i never knew about the ical validator website. i have just created a brand new calendar on my apple device, published it as a public calendar, copied the link and posted it into the ical checker and it came up with the same error messages… Your calendar is using an invalid newline format. Make sure to use \r\n to end lines rather than just \n (RFC 2445 §4.1). Sorry, your calendar could not be parsed. Error: Error was: Error at line 1: Expected [-3], read [-1] Cause: this happened about the time i updated to iOS 8.1 it asked me to upgrade my calendars, contacts and documents to iCloud drive and i declined. maybe this has something to do with it. i will investigate. just tried making a new calendar on my partners device (different iCloud account etc), made it public, tried to add it and exactly the same problem. is it possible that apple has changed the way it codes the calendars so that they only work on apple devices? |

Re: iCalendar merge not working I have been searching Google for similar complaints but haven't found any yet (though people are complaining about many other calendar problems) We'll wait until the next maintenance release and if they don't fix it we'll try and see if there are any workarounds we can make on our side. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
