confused   Import of .ics file doesnt work
We are trying to import a rather big .ics file into the localendar. This file was either exported by Lotus Notes or Microsoft Outlook and is about 17 MB in size. We want to use this functionality to migrate to the localendar system.

When I try to use the import function via iCal or Outlook 2007/2010 the upload after a while stops and gets interrupted by following message:

Error: Secure connection failed The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

We are having a premium account till beginning of February and thought about buying one but we are still not sure if that import|export functions is not working very well.

Re: Import of .ics file doesnt work
I'm not surprised.. I don't think I've ever seen an ics file that huge before. I'm sure the upload operation wasn't designed to handle something that big.

Can I ask why the file is so huge? Are there tons of historical dates? Lots in the future?

I did some checking and other online calendars see to top out at 1 or 2mb. Is there any chance you can export a shorter date range from the original application? Even if we did change localendar to allow that huge upload through. there would likely be a lot of other negative performance repercussions for your calendar related to iCal (localendar as well as Outlook and Notes uses a much more efficient event storage method internally than iCal)
