Wordpress integration of mini calendar? Do you have any plans to Widget-ize localendar for Wordpress usage? I haven't seen any Plugins or development for such things, but maybe I missed it... In trying to add it to a new Wordpress footer Widget on: http://madisonsquarechurch.dreamhosters.com/ -- it breaks the "rest" of the site code following to the footer. BUT, that same code, tested on the 'old' site: http://madisonsquarechurch.org/template.php works just peachy. Please let me know how I can get the mini-calendar for: http://madisonsquarechurch.dreamhosters.com/calendar/ up and running as we count down to a new launch date. Thanks in advance! Steve C. Re: Wordpress integration of mini calendar? We actually got about halfway into a special Wordpress plugin for localendar, then WP was in the middle of an upgrade so we put it aside and got sidetracked on some other issues. You should still be able to use some of the localendar styles (not the mini calendar ) with one of the various HTML plugins out there. But we would like to get back to our dedicated plugin, built-in options, etc. We are working on some [non-related] other enhancements at the moment though. Please stay tuned ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Wordpress integration of mini calendar? So, do you have any fixes to tide us over until you revisit (if ever) the possibilities of a full Wordpress widget plugin? As you can see by the test links in the previous post, the calendar works fine on a standard HTML page, but once it is injected into the Wordpress structure, it breaks along with anything following it. I do realize we could work on our own custom feed via: http://www.localendar.com/public/madison2?style=M3, but would prefer to not make this a project we have to spend that time on in favor of other aspects of the site that need that time-spent. Any efforts you can pass along to make this work will be appreciated, so that we don't have to seek another calendar method. Thanks, Steve C. |

Re: Wordpress integration of mini calendar? I dont have any fixes specifically for the mini-calendar, because it is extremely javascript intensive. As you noted, using an RSS feed is one option. More commonly, members use one of the other view-styles along with one of the "Custom HTML" plugins for Wordpress. The Today+Happening Soon and Month-list views are particularly popular in this case. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Wordpress integration of mini calendar? OK, so if we go the RSS route, how can we make the feed 'start' with the next future event, instead of feeding things from the 1st of the month? Is that a setting we're missing, or does it require some custom coding to accomplish this request? As you can see, http://madisonsquarechurch.dreamhosters.com/ , has items (in the 1st list) that are Sept.1-6... would much prefer that be showing items on the 15th and forward from the very start. Possible? The second list option done in a slightly different method is doing something similar, but is actually in reverse-order... starting with the last calendar event and descending... (?). So that will not do either. Thanks in advance for any input you can provide! Steve C. |

Re: Wordpress integration of mini calendar? Additionally, there is a style variable in the RSS link: http://www.localendar.com/public/madison2?style=M3 Is that something which can conceivably have additional variables like timeframe=future and orderby? Just thinking aloud here -- let me know if this is a possibility. Steve C. |

Re: Wordpress integration of mini calendar? That style actually is what denotes the RSS feed. There aren't any sorting parameters. You could add something like &start_date=12/1/2011 to that to view a feed for a future time period. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Wordpress integration of mini calendar? After much digging, and a 2nd set of eyes, an independent contractor has discerned the following: 1. Wordpress utilizes Jquery v1.6 - the mini-cal is using v1.3... disabling the Wordpress version allows it to work, but disables all other elements using Jquery v1.6 (such as slideshows, home page sliders, etc.). 2. The plugin that is the basis for the pop-ups (BeautyTips?) hasn't had an update since 2009. (!) Good indicator of its 'freshness meter' as a function? Would love to be able to use this mini-cal AND still have a Jquery slider (+ other elements) work properly for: http://madisonsquarechurch.dreamhosters.com/ . . . please advise. Steve C. |

Re: Wordpress integration of mini calendar? By now, you have probably noticed that we were working on a major update to the site which is why we haven't been working on the Wordpress plugin. We have a number of items to catch up to in our queue. Other parts of localendar us Jquery 1.5 fwiw,; there are +'s and -'s to changing versions for the minical. Nothing wrong with Beautytip's date; just b/c it works right the first time :-) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
