Font issue with Localendar It appears that within the last few days you have changed all the font types on Localendar, and/or made them Bold. My Custom Events no longer fit on one line, but now take up part of a 2nd. The Title and Date are larger and appear to be Bold in addition. The font on the Event Popup has changed such that the lines are longer, resulting in some words at the end of the line being dropped. This problem happens no matter which of my calendars I open, and no matter whether they are imbedded on my website or opened on your site directly. It also happens on multiple computers. In fact today when I booted up one and opened Localender, it opened with the old font and immediately changed to the new one. Please fix this and go back to the old font, or tell us how we can change back to the old font. I cannot find any information that tells the user how to change the fonts. Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar This is an update to my previous post.
I found some info on Changing the default text style on this page: https://localendar.com/docs/display/lc/Other+Ways+to+Customize+an+Event+Title and on this page: https://localendar.com/docs/display/lc/Custom+Calendar+CSS From experimentation, it appears that the previous font was Arial. .m-usr changes the names of the events that one enters on the month view. .mt--usr changes the Calendar Title. But I can't find anything that changes the Date header, the Custom Events names, the Popup text, etc., etc. It is clear from this that you have made a change on all the entries from Arial to ???. So please change everything back to Arial. Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Yes, we are in the midst of making some changes to the typography on localendar to bring the site into the 21st century And in some cases (the Event Editor comes to mind) we have increased the font size slightly for better readability. We've also added the option to make calendar blocks "square" on the month-views btw (under Options->General...Show More) But it was not our intention to break existing layouts. We've done a lot of testing, but (as you can imagine) we also have a lot of calendars out there. Can you give me an example of where the format breaks for you so we can have a look? ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Font issue with LocalendarMarc:
Not everything in the 21st century is better than the 20th. I am not using the square blocks. Go to my primary calendar: http://localendar.com/public/OPwebmaster?rss_link=false EVERYTHING here seems to have been 'improved'. The Title, the month text below the Title (i.e., September 2016), the text on the event entries, the text on the popups for those entries, the text for the Custom Events (which because of the change I now have one entry on a 2nd row, which I don't want), etc. If you go to the week or day view, the Title still uses your original font. If you go to a test calendar I have: http://localendar.com/public/HMWlotest1?rss_link=false and go to December 2014 and January 2015 (I don't use this calendar much), You will see that I have changed the Title and the entry text in the month view to Arial. But the entry text for the week and day views have NOT changed. And your original title font must not have been Arial, because the month view title does not match the week and day title font. Not all the changes are bad. The dates, and the 'day-week-month' boxes are much easier to read than before. And I agree that the new entry text is more readable than the old, but the font you chose takes more horizontal space, so sometimes the text wraps around to an extra line, making the calendar taller. I can live with the text in the popups. So I would like the above listed problems revert back to the original font and font size (whatever they are) if you don't mind, or tell me how to change each one myself. And it would have been appreciated if when you advised us about the square box option change, you would have let us know about these other changes. Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Hi Harry, A couple quick things: First, we did make this change in a way that lets us move towards user-selectable fonts (which is something that will make its way under Options->Colors in the near future) Also, (just as a side opinion) - I think the calendar looks awesome now :) You might also notice we tightened up the legend near the bottom, removed the gray border around the "Week" link on the month-view, removed Day underlines, and made some other changes. We can make adjustments to the current font to make it smaller, narrower, etc, so regarding this item:
Can you give me a specific event/date that is now multiple lines and wasn't before? This can't be the case for every event on the calendar, because some of them have very long titles. Meanwhile, I will get you the CSS to use to switch back to Arial before the new Theme editor changes if you wish ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Marc: Providing user selectable fonts in the future sounds great. I assume this will let the user change ALL the places where text is displayed, including Custom event entries and popups. side options: I agree most of those look fine. (I'm too old to use 'awesome'.) Here is what I need you to fix for me, by moving back to the previous font type, until the selectable font option is available: 1. The Custom event entries at the bottom of the calendar. Per the two URL's I sent, you see that these now wrap to a 2nd line, whereas previously all 8 fit on one line. All the entries need to fit within the 850px width of the calendar (my website software is not recursive.) 2. The Title on the Month View. Based on the code I added yesterday to make the title an Arial font in http://localendar.com/public/HMWlotest1?rss_link=false if you look at the Week or Day view, I don't think this was an Arial font previously. 3. The month right below the Title (i.e., September 2016). I was able to change the Event names to Arial using .m-usr coding. So I think that is all I need until the user-selectable fonts are available. Thanks for all your help on this. Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Can you send the page where you've embedded the calendar? I am assuming that if I can look at it there, this will all make sense. B/c if I look at the direct calendar link you sent, there is no wrapping (even if I shrink my browser window) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Paste this into your calendar title (under Options->General) and it should reset most of the fonts to Arial:

Re: Font issue with Localendar Marc:
That is really strange. I tried the direct link on Chrome, Firefox, and IE 11. If the width of the calendar is less than around 1000px, the Custom event entries at the bottom of the screen wrap. Here is where the calendar is located on my website: http://www.ottawapark.org/calendar-ottawa-park-toledo.html I have NOT done the Paste you suggested in your Sept. 29 4:44 PM post. I would like to confirm that you can duplicate my problem first. Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Marc:
Can you tell me what each of the following abbreviations reference? I know what the other ones are, but I cannot decipher these. I assume that –usr is the User Name of the person who owns the Localendar account? .merged-usr, Somehow this and .category-usr combine to change legend, but I’m not clear what each do individually. .category-usr, .mj-usr, .mm-usr, Month Name on Month view (September 2016; 3 character abbreviations, or both??) .w-date-usr, Text, digit, or both?? .dr-usr, .dj-usr, .dj_weekday-usr, .dj_weekend-usr, .dj_weekday-usr, .dj_diffmonth-usr, .d2-header-usr, .d2-date-usr, .list-daylabel-usr, .list-event-desc-usr, .list-event-title-usr, .dayname-abbr-usr Thanks again, Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar You can see an explanation of the various CSS hooks here: http://localendar.com/docs/display/lc/Custom+Calendar+CSS These class names do not change (-usr does not mean -OPWebmaster) "-usr" is left there for localendar users (-usr ) to override the CSS that localendar uses.---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Marc:
You sneaky guy. You just updated the list! Thanks for doing that. But the following are still missing: .merged-usr .category-usr .w-date-usr You don't say if this is text, digits, or both? .dr-usr .list-daylabel-usr Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar for .w-date-usr, I believe it's both. merged-usr are merged calendar names category-user are category names (both of these are in the legend at the bottom of the calendar) dr-usr is currently unused .list-daylabel-usr: The Date/Day Label on the Month,Week,Day List Views ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Marc: On 9/29/2016 you said this:
Has the user-selectable font feature ever been added? I could not find this on Options->Colors. I have recently been updating my fonts the 'old' way with CSS classes. I have run into a couple of problems, perhaps due to the fact that I am not a programmer. 1. When is it permissible to have spaces between CSS entries? For example I had ".mt-usr{font-size:28px;font-family:Arial;}. wt-usr{font-size:28px;font-family:Arial;}" Because there was a space between the . and wt-usr, wt-usr would not execute. But in other instances, the space did not seem to make any difference. Nevertheless, I removed all spaces except where they were required for .view_style. 2. My bigger problem is with .mj-usr. It does not work. In fact, if I incorporate something like this: ".mj-usr{font-size:16px;font-family:Arial;}", it actually overrides my .m-usr setting! Here is the code I am currently using. I have left .mj-usr out of it. Much of it is based on what you supplied me in 9/2016. <style>.mt-usr{font-size:28px;font-family:Arial;}.wt-usr{font-size:28px;font-family:Arial;}.dt-usr{font-size:28px;font-family:Arial;}.merged-usr,.category-usr{font-size:13px;font-family:Arial;}.m-usr{font-size:13px;font-family:Arial;}.mm-usr,.w-usr,.d-usr,.dj-usr,.d2-header-usr,.dj_weekend-usr,.dj_weekday-usr,.dj_diffmonth-usr,.w-date-usr,.list-daylabel-usr,.list-event-desc-usr,.d2-date-usr,.list-event-title-usr,.dayname-abbr-usr {font-family:Arial;}.view_style_M1 * {font-size:32px;}</style><script>jQuery(document).ready(function() {jQuery('.mal-usr').attr('src','http://www.localendar.com/upload/OPwebmaster/arrowtest2lltblue.gif');jQuery('.mar-usr').attr('src', 'http://www.localendar.com/upload/OPwebmaster/arrowtest2rltblue.gif');jQuery('.wal-usr').attr('src','http://www.localendar.com/upload/OPwebmaster/arrowtest2lltblue.gif');jQuery('.war-usr').attr('src', 'http://www.localendar.com/upload/OPwebmaster/arrowtest2rltblue.gif');jQuery('.dal-usr').attr('src','http://www.localendar.com/upload/OPwebmaster/arrowtest2lltblue.gif');jQuery('.dar-usr').attr('src', 'http://www.localendar.com/upload/OPwebmaster/arrowtest2rltblue.gif');});</script> I publish using a fully interactive embedded javascript calendar, because it has some unique features that the responsive iframe does not have. You can see my localendar on this page on my website: http://www.ottawapark.org/calendar-ottawa-park-toledo.html Any help would be greatly appreciated. Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Hi Harry, We currently do not offer font-selections through the wysiwyg calendar style editor. I think you have discovered what the 'C' in CSS stands for. It's 'Cascading' ;) That means that certain settings to a style on an outer-level element will be automatically inherited by nested elements - unless they are overriden on those children. Btw, you cannot have spaces in your CSS selectors (i.e., ". wt-usr") .wt-usr is what is called a "class" selector. That's what the leading period indicates. Any element (and there can be multiple) with the class="wt-usr" will be affected by the styles you define. Btw, an element can have multiple classes declared and can also inherit the styles set on its parents' classes. If a CSS element starts with a #, it's an ID selector. Elements on the page can only have a single id, so this type of selector is highly targeted. I can try and help you with your calendar's CSS. what is the specific item on the page you are trying to style (please give me an English description and not a CSS class) Is it the month names underneath the name of the current month? ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Marc:
Yes, it is the month names abbreviations (i.e., DEC) under the current month/year (i.e., December 2017). I want to make the font slightly larger, and make the current month (i.e., DEC) bolder. It one does not look at the current month/year, it is almost impossible to know what month the calendar is displaying. And depending on what the default font type is for the abbreviations, I may want to change that also. Thanks for the other tips, although I only have a vague idea of the required structure. Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar Have a look at your CSS under Options now. I added a.mj-usr{font-size:20px;color:#ddd;}which will make the size a little bigger, and the non-current months a little lighter. We currently don't provide a hook to specifically style the current month in the month-jump list under the title (I'll see about getting one added) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Font issue with Localendar The 'a' is for the anchor (or hyperlink) tag. As in <a href=...> The whole a.mj-user bit is called a "CSS Selector". Re: Font issue with Localendar Marc:
I am still making changes to the a.mj-usr function you gave me to make it easier for the user to distinguish the current from the non- current months, and still be easily readable. That is why I added font-weight: bold. Here is what I currently have: a.mj-usr{font-size:20px;font-weight:bold;color:#c0c0c0;} The font-size: and font-weight: functions control all 12 months. But the color: function only controls the 11 non-current months (i.e., Feb-Dec). Rather than styling just the current month as you mentioned, is there a way that I can change the font-size for just the 11 non-current months? If they were smaller they could be a darker color and still stand out from the current month. Harry |

Re: Font issue with Localendar We did add a way to target the current month, so to do what you want, you would need a line that looked something like this: <style>a.mj-usr{font-size:12px;font-weight:bold;color:#c0c0c0;}.mj-current{font-size:20px !important;} </style> ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
