Installing the Forum in my website
I just upgraded my service. Where can I find clear instruction as to how to publish the Forum in my website. I need to make sure the site looks like the the site that the calnder is on so I can add text for users as to how to use the formum and the fact they need to sign up with you guys. FYI - You can see my web site @ unicussolutions.com
Thanks

Re: Installing the Forum in my website
All you need to do is add a link to http://www.localendar.com/forums/ghalili on your site.

You can add whatever text you feel appropriate near that link. As for changing the forum color/styles to match your calendar, you can download, modify, and re-upload the CSS used by the forums under Administration->Colors.

Marc:

Thanks for the info on the link.

I guess what I wanted to know is can I display the Forum page just like the calender on my own web site. So the Forum Page shows up without showing the localnder.com heading etc.
Right now when I put the link it takes the users to a whole new page. I wanted the forum page to be consistant with the rest of my web pages such as the calender page.
If you go to to my web site www.unicussolutions.com and click on Calender you see what I mean. I wanted when they click on the Forum they go to the Forum page with all my personal logos and banners etc. is this possible?
Thanks

Re: Installing the Forum in my website
A very good question.
Actually, we never designed the forums to be included as anything other than a full-page feature, but I think it is possible to at least put them in an iframe like the embedded calendar. For example:

<!--
Note: You need to paste both of the following lines into your web page. The <ILAYER> line is for Netscape, and the <IFRAME> line is for Internet Explorer.
This style embedded forum may not display correctly in other browsers. You can adjust the height and width parameters as desired.
-->
<ILAYER src="http://www.localendar.com/forums/ghalili" height=600 width=700 ></ILAYER>
<IFRAME src="http://www.localendar.com/forums/ghalili" height=600 width=700 marginheight=0 marginwidth=0 scrolling=yes frameborder=0 border=0></IFRAME>

Note that since forum message threads can be long, I turned on "scrolling". Please let me know how this works out for you.

Marc:

It works great. Except in Front Page the Preview works fine it shows my Forum.

The only problem is when I publish the site instead of my Forum somebody else's Forum shows up.
Daily Bible Reading?????

Here is what I have included in my page:

<IFRAME src="http://www.localendar.com/forums/ghalili" height=600 width=700 marginheight=0 marginwidth=0 scrolling=yes frameborder=0 border=0></IFRAME>

Please check the site www.unicussolutions.com and tell me why my Forum is not showing.

Thanks

Re: Installing the Forum in my website
Hi Farid,

That's a pernicious bug we're trying to track down. I would suggest signing out of your localendar account before visiting the page and seeing if you get the correct forum. The problem seems to occur when you are moving between these support forums and your personal forums.

Marc:

I have logged off, rebooted, you name it. I still get the wrong Forum. Can you visit my site please (www.unicussolutions.com) and select Forum from any page and see why that perticular Forum comes up but mine. Also if this is a problem that is going to take a long time to fix then I have to take the Forum site down as this is a business site and will effect my site. Also I mainly upgraded for this feature and should not be charged till this issue is resloved and working.
Thanks.
Farid

Re: Installing the Forum in my website
We're making this a top priority. There have been too many instances of this problem reoccurring (despite our efforts to quash this bug!)

Step 1: The wrong calendar shouldn't come up (just a blank one now). I realize this isn't much better - but it brings us one step closer to the correct solution.

Re: Installing the Forum in my website
Yes 1 step closer.

Is the Forum usable yet?
Should one be able to log in?
Can someone register?
Can they add a topic etc.?
or untill the actual REAL Forum is displayed there is nothing that can be done.

When you try to login even with a valid ID and PW it gives an error message.

Is it just better to remove it till it actully works then?

Farid

Re: Installing the Forum in my website
Typically, when you hit the forum a second time, you get the correct one. For some reason, this isnt happening in your case. Please *don't* change anything right now, as your site is the first place we can finally see this problem repeatedly occurring, which is a great benefit for testing. As I mentioned, we're working on correcting this as fast as possible. Your help is greatly appreciated.

OK - I think we're getting closer. Please check out the forums that you've integrated into your site and let me know how you are making out.

Re: Installing the Forum in my website
Hmmm... I tested it, and it worked fine.
Then I just hit the site, and got your error.

So I looked at the server logs and saw a bunch of null pointer errors in different sections of the code. I had the server bounced, closed all browsers, and it worked fine.

In another week, we are deploying some major new hardware along with a bunch of general code fixes. It may be that those combination of fixes will also address this problem; but I'm curious if now that the server has been bounced you can log in correctly. The servers are getting a bit taxed, hence the upgrades. I wonder if this is also to blame for this new error.

Re: Installing the Forum in my website
ghalili,

I believe the migration of some of the servers was completed last night. Can we pick up this thread again? Are you still seeing the same behaviour?
