Contents of google ads Greetings; I am the web master of www.troop10.com I have one of your calendars on our webs site and there have been times when some of the ads are for homosexual content. As you can see by the site we are a Boy Scout troop and these ads are causing issues and complaints from the boys and their parents. I need these type of ads to not be included or we will stop using this service. |

Re: Contents of google ads I am curious if you can supply the target url of these ads so that we can notify Google. Google policy explicitly prohibits non-family friendly ads (guns, drugs, mature, etc), so if they aren't catching these immediately, we will notify them. A cut-and-paste of the ads would be extremely useful. All ads can also be removed by subscribing to at least Premium Basic ($9.95/year) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Contents of google ads I've been keeping a closer eye on the ads since this was brought to my attention I will post the urls as soon as I find them. All I have now is a print out of one time a parent found one of them I can scan it and email or snail mail it to you. |

Re: Contents of google ads Unfortunately, it won't have the hyperlink content, which is what we really need to send google. If it happens again, please save an HTML-only version of the page and you can paste it into our support form (the Contact Us link) ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Contents of google ads Thanks for the link. I have added it to our "ad filter" which should ban that particular url in about 24 hours. I also did some research on Google and was shocked to see other people having this exact same problem. It appears Google is looking the other way regarding relevancy in pursuit of the advertising dollar. If there are additional urls, please pass them along. But obviously if this becomes systemic and Google doesn't address it, we will have to choose another ad provider. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Contents of google ads Sigh; I added it to the filter list. I also confirmed the following from Google: Sites displaying Google ads may not include: * Violent content, racial intolerance, or advocacy against any individual, group, or organization * Pornography, adult, or mature content * Hacking/cracking content * Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia * Excessive profanity * Gambling or casino-related content * Content regarding programs which compensate users for clicking on ads or offers, performing searches, surfing websites, or reading emails * Excessive, repetitive, or irrelevant keywords in the content or code of web pages * Deceptive or manipulative content or construction to improve your site's search engine ranking, e.g., your site's PageRank * Sales or promotion of weapons or ammunition (e.g., firearms, fighting knives, stun guns) * Sales or promotion of beer or hard alcohol * Sales or promotion of tobacco or tobacco-related products * Sales or promotion of prescription drugs * Sales or promotion of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods * Sales or distribution of term papers or student essays * Any other content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others And have joined the choir making sure they live up to these guidelines lest they force us to leave. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Contents of google ads I run a church website and we have been getting google ads for finding dates with sexy women. I had no choice but to sign up for premium service today. I think with all the complaints you have had you should stop using google ads. |

Re: Contents of google ads We discovered that the source of most of these ads fall into a category of Google ads that are not tied to particular keywords. We also discovered that if you contact Google, they will remove these types of ads from your account (which we have done). This seems to have reduced the # of objectionable content concerns immensely. If you still have any record of the link to which you are referring, we would greatly appreciate it. We have looked at alternatives (mainly Yahoo), and had similar issues (w/ less flexibility to filter) but we are still open to alternatives to Google. There are also 3rd party sites offering to help identify which ad vendor sites to block which we are evaluating. Unfortunately, google currently only lets you block up to 200 such sites. Thanks for your feedback on this important issue. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |

Re: Contents of google ads
We are a K-12 school and have used this for 2 years. We are getting ads about finding singles in our area, so have gone to the premium service to get rid of the ads. Didn't look appropriate at all! |

Re: Contents of google ads Sigh. Google and the quest for every $. Let me mention again that the only way we can make progress on this issue is if folks will paste the url's of the offending ads here. Otherwise, we have no way to bring this to Google's attention. ---------------------------------------- Marc Higgins Support Associate, localendar.com Follow us on Twitter! http://www.twitter.com/localendar_news |
