angry   Forum Profile Problems
I have been trying all day off and on to make corrections to my profile in the forum.

Problem #1 My birthdate is wrong and no matter what I do to change it, it still comes back wrong.

Problem #2 I have the correct time zone set up in the settings but the silly thing still displays posts at about 5 hours earlier than it should.

Problem #3 Adding an Avatar of any kind is impossible.

Re: Forum Profile Problems
Let's start with the simple stuff. I just changed my birthdate, and I obviously have an avatar... so at least *these* should work for you (the timezone is a different issue. Our servers run on GMT, which is 5 hours off from GMT, which could be causing the problem you mention)

Are you entering your birthdate in the form DD/MM/YYYY (what is it, if you don't mind sharing wink )

What is the size (in bytes) of your avatar pic (and what format - gif, png, jpg). There are some limits here as well.

Re: Forum Profile Problems
My Bd is 05/16/1967 and I added it in that order and type. Lol it keeps coming back as April 5, 1968. Though I wouldnt mind being a bit younger, that isnt what I had in mind.

The avatar is a small jpg. file 3.04kb, and 100x104 in size. To be specific, when I browse to it and hit the upload button it simply sits there. I tried once for 20 minutes yesterday and nothing happened. hypnotized

Re: Forum Profile Problems
I need to know more about your avatar image to look into that problem. See previous post:

What is the size (in bytes) of your avatar pic (and what format - gif, png, jpg)?

Re: Forum Profile Problems
Is this the avatar I'm seeing on your posts now? Or a different one?

Re: Forum Profile Problems
ok, I had the avatar working for a short time and when I tried to change it, it has gone back to the same exact problem as before. I try to upload it and all it does is sit there. The new avatar is 1.88 kb, and is 80x64 in size and is a jpeg image.

Can you help please!

Re: Forum Profile Problems
Hmm.. Since you have web space, would you mind putting the avatar somewhere where I can grab a copy? I'd like to test w/ your image specifically and see if I can figure out what's going on.

Re: Forum Profile Problems
Your sig is being displayed, but the extended information you pasted (an image from the Post Editor?) is not being parsed. It appears that HTML or custom formatting in a sig may not be supported.

I will look into the issue further.

In the meantime, I recommend a text based sig.

Re: Forum Profile Problems
I have tried several different ways to get it to work. I tried manually typing the html code. I tried pulling code from another post and just adding my own url. I currently have the auto code in the system from photobucket. It generates the bb code for you automatically and you just copy and paste it. I can get images to work in the main thread and I will demonstrate that in a moment, but the code in the sig does not work.

Re: Forum Profile Problems
Hence my message:
Images and HTML work in the message body, but not the sig. I don't know that images were ever intended to be supported in the sig.

This is not a case of something being broken, but a new feature which you are requesting.

The sig editor doesn't offer any functionality to add html or [img] tags; these are things which you had to do manually (but that doesn't mean it's going to work, just b/c you added it)

Re: Forum Profile Problems
Im sorry but I dont buy that excuse. Especially given the fact that it had worked in the past and suddenly and mysteriously just up and stopped working!! Every other Forum software on the planet supports BB code for signatures. Why doesnt yours? My users are asking for this feature. If you cant supply it, Ill have no choice but to find another service or hire someone to build me a php based board!!

Re: Forum Profile Problems
As I mentioned - I don't think that we've every supported rich-text sigs, so I don't follow your comment about it "suddenly" not working.

I can appreciate your desire to have it supported; but there is a prioritized task list, and right now it's not scheduled as a planned enhancement.

One of the differences between our implementation and a php-based site is that we are hosting separate, non-linked forums for thousands of members. Typically, a php solution is per single site. The architectures are radically different. That's not to excuse why the feature-sets aren't identical; just to address your point about "every other solution on the planet".
