Thank you to all who showed up tonight, great turnout! :)

Thank you to all who signed the sympathy cards for Tom Kennedy's wife and family. Johnny will be putting them in the mail for me tomorrow. Tom is in the current issue of Time magazine. I sent out the online link in an earlier email, I have not seen it in hard copy.

You received an email forwarded from Visker about automobile mechanical work. Please see that previous email for location and details - a check up for any of your vehicles for $30, parts at cost or you provide, labor $45 per hour, all goes to the mechanic, none to Visker. This will continue until the City of Houston clears his permits to open. At that time this deal will end and when he lets me know that, I will forward that info out to you.

Rebecca Bass has been making art cars with her students for 20 years. She would like to have a reunion with them all. She sees many of them for a moment every parade as they grow older. If you happen to run into any of them, please forward her email address to them: canudigit2@mindspring.com

Parade packet pick up was this past Saturday. If you did not pick up your packet you missed a great party - please contact the Orange Show @ 713-926-6368 on how to proceed.

If you have pix of your art car(s) in a weather related picture, please send them to hotshots@click2houston.com and ask them to post your car's pix as it is 10 days till 2009 Art Car Weekend starts!

Happy Hours are staying the same - Dark Horse on Wednesday, Big Starr Bar on Thursday.

Read your Parade Packet - great bathroom reading material! One the back of the blue folded page from the Orange Show about participating, you will find a box with all of HACK's events. Fliers for our events are in the Parade Packets and you can get info on all the weekend activities on our website, www.houstonartcarklubcom and our calendar. Spread the word! Posters and info cards are available at the Orange Show!

Wednesday night is the Welcome Party - see the flier in your packet or visit the website for info.

Thursday is the Tom Kennedy Memorial Art Car Ball - see the flier in your packet or visit the website for info. You MUST register your art car by THIS THURSDAY if you would like free entry into the Ball. If you are not prepared to have your car IN the site from 6p till 11p, you are asked to park in the grassy parking lot near the fence - a section will be blocked off for art cars that don't want to commit to 6-11p. Please don't expect to be able to leave the site before 11p if you are parked IN the site. Ken Crimmins is coordinating this entire event - thank you Ken! He will send out confirmation emails before the event so you'll know that you are on the list. If you buy tickets for your friends, put them under your name and they will pick up their tix under your name. There will be 2 check ins, one for art car artists and one for the public who has purchased a ticket. Tickets are $15 in advance till midnight Wednesday night before the Ball, $20 the day of the Ball at the door. www.artcarball.com - it has all the info. If you want to leave your car on site all night, you must leave your keys with Ken and the car will be locked inside to make sure it has wheels, tires and windows in it when you return the next day to retrieve it.

Friday morning and afternoon is the Main Street Drag and lunch. If you didn't sign up but still want to participate, you can. Show up at the Houston Zoo at 8am on Friday morning. Call the OShow for details if you didn't sign up and have questions. It starts and ends at the Zoo, support vehicles can be parked in the back of the lot - follow the directions of the volunteers. No route assignments, show up and a volunteer will guide you into place. Lunch at the Zoo will follow. Beer is allowed into the Zoo discreetly, and can be purchased in the Zoo.

Friday evening is the Sneak Peak at Discovery Green. Parking around the perimeter of the park is being held for art cars - about 50. You are asked to show up no later than 5pm if you would like to park in one of those coned off, meter paid spots. If you are a car that blows fire and would like the possibility of being able to blow fire from your car in the Park, please contact Kenny Browning knnybrwnng@yahoo.com immediately. If you have a firecracker hat and would like to be in a POSSIBLE performance at this event, you must contact Kenny Browning immediately!! He will be working with the City to coordinate this. 2 foot Viking Ships will be available for anyone to put a small note to someone who has passed away this past year. Those ships will float into the pond at the Park and be burned. SMALL NOTE ON THIN PAPER PLEASE. Again, thank you to Kenny Browning for handling this part of the evening. Harrod Blanks' new movie Automorphosis will be shown, and 2 bands will play. See your packet for details.

Saturday the Parade rolls, we have a post parade party and an Illuminated Cruise:
Staging for the Parade starts at 9am, read your packet for line up arrival time details. WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE BEING JUDGED, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU STOP IN FRONT OF THE ORANGE SHOW PHOTOGRAPHER TO GET YOUR PICTURE TAKEN for their website!!! No throwing of anything from your vehicle in the parade, no open containers of alcohol, no one driving and drinking alcohol, you must have a fire extinguisher.
After the Parade, the Post Party flier in your packet will provide directions to get you to the Meridian. You can spend time in the parking lot, discreetly with your beverage of choice, or go in the air conditioning where beverages will be on sale, hang, visit, relax. Kim Son is a block away for those wanting to eat after the Parade. Normal rules apply, bring everything you need to have a good time and take your trash with you!!! When we leave for the Illuminated Cruise from this spot at dark, all art car related vehicles will need to be moved to the back of the lot so Meridian patrons will have a place to park that evening.
The Illuminated Cruise will gather at dusk, roll at dark. Thank yous go to Kenny Browning for organizing the post parade tailgater party, writing the route and making the route fliers. Ben, Amy and Jake are the ones to thank for our porta pottie that night. Amy and Cazz for our music.

Sunday is the Awards Ceremony at the Orange Show. Information is in your packet, on our website and on the calendar. The Brunch will start 10ish at the Show. The Awards Ceremony at 1p. Parking is in the lot down the street and on the streets surrounding the OShow. The street in front of the Show will be blocked off for everyone to gather. If you have art to sell, you are welcome to sell it, but no popping up of tents on the lawn of the office or in the blocked off street or on the monument itself - from your cars our outside the blocked off area please. Thank you Johnny Rojas for being our chef that morning!!

Again, thank you for the great turn out tonight. Art car season is here! I will send out emails to you regarding all events and information as I receive them.

Thank you for playing, and a huge thank you to all who work so hard to make these 5 days of art car in Houston a success - it couldn't happen without all of us!

:)
