OFFICIAL MINUTES FROM HACK MEETING Wed, 15 March 2007 PRESIDING: Nicole Strine, HACK President & Treasurer LOCATION: Dark Horse Tavern When you come to a meeting, YOU get to vote and make changes and decisions that effect our events! ******OUR NEXT MEETING IS WEDNESDAY MARCH 28 AT HICKORY HOLLOW AT 7PM***** Thank you for such a great turn out last night. Ok, it was a BIGGIE, so let's get to it, short and to the point: The calendar is updated. YOU can go to the calendar and add any art car event you want. It will come to me for approval and then it will post. These events will be on the calendar and I will update as I get information. Per Orange Show: Art Car Weekend Kick-Off Party - April 19th - I do not have the location, but will get it and put it on the calendar with a reminder to be sent out to you. Re Art Car Weekend: Friday morning: Main Street Drag, starts and ends at Houston Zoo Friday night: Symposium at Art Car Museum - sounds like a blast this year! One side of Heights will be blocked off, guest speakers, a tribute 20 hat Dance of the Firecracker Hats in honor of the late Dean Pauly of St. Louis. Saturday: Parade at 1p, no pre or post party Per Art Car Ball Committee: Thursday night: Sons of Herman Lodge, Heights Ave, across from Art Car Museum BYOB, but buy set ups, beer and wine from them; 1 free entry per art car; tickets are at the door: $15 adults, $12 teens; $3 children under 12; promises lots of dancing music; artists are welcome to bring their own bands to play outside, your wares to sell, you skit to show, your sword to swallow, etc! Posters will be available shortly and YOU will be needed to get them out there and hung up! The Committee needs someone to make a website. Right now www.artcarball.com is dead. Please contact any or all of these people to discuss website options. Here are the few names and addresses I have: Julie Fischer julief@houston.rr.com robert scott rs51@houston.rr.com Kelly asks that if you would like to volunteer please email her at: kellyblakley@earthlink.net If you volunteer, you get free entry to the Ball! When I get an updated list of email contacts for the Ball, I will send it out to you. Welcome Party: This event has now changed to the Welcome to Houston Happy Hour. Place to be decided, but probably our same hang out, Dark Horse. There will be no food or free beverage at this event. Post Parade HACK! events: After the Parade we are to exit and leave Allen Parkway. HACK! has decided to have an after event party that will include food and a keg or two. Would love to get beer and non-alcoholic bevs donated. We will need someone, or a couple of someones, to be in charge of this "event". Right now we would like to use Last Concert and some artists' studios in that area, parking in and around that area, as a hang out. I have not had the chance to contact Dawn at Last Concert about this yet. Thanks to Visker/PJS Services' generous donation of porta cans - THREE at each stop on the Illuminated Cruise - we will have more money for food and beverage at this little afternoon gathering. It will run from about 3 till about 7. Food - named the Last Supper, or something to that effect - to be served too. At least that's the idea right now. This could change as we might not have enough money to feed so many people. As HACK!ers, I encourage you to be prepared for the unknown as we venture into attempting new events like this... After the "Last Supper", we will then mosey over to the median at the Art Car Museum at dusk to stage for the Illuminated Cruise. Kirk Suddreth and Kenny Browning will be making the route this year and Kirk will be the lead/pace car for this year's Cruise. General information: 1. Rebecca Lowe would like to have a group of people set up as contacts for out of towners that would be available via cell phone in case they get lost or have questions while in town. 2. Parade Packet stuffing will happen at the Orange Show on Wednesday, April 11 starting at 6pm. That is where our happy hour will be that week. 3. The Orange Show is looking for cars to be parked inside the Bayou City Art Festival to promote Art Car Weekend from the 23rd-25th. The cars will be secure on the site thru the event. Flipside: Please visit their website for info and involvement: www.burningflipside.com Julie was trying to talk about it but I couldn't hear her! We will ask for more info at our next meeting. (sorry Julie) 5. Naomi would like to do something like Art Car Outreach in our "off" season, where we all drive somewhere, maybe a caravan to a small town and have pie or shop and hang... something like that. Like a Saturday or Sunday day trip. Treasury: We have $1050. Last night it was decided that $150 will go to the out of towner that drives in from farthest place. HACK! must have all the fliers created, printed and delivered to the Orange Show by April 9th. We better get a move on makin' our decisions final since we're changin' things up here a bit!
